Tottenham ready to make their move for tricky AS Monaco star; €60m fee mooted

Tottenham Hotspur eyeing summer deal for AS Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche
Tottenham Hotspur are looking to bring in a new winger in the summer to bolster their attack for next season. The Lilywhites are looking to improve several areas in the upcoming transfer window, and signing a quality ‘wide-area’ player is also on the cards. It is fair to say that bringing in a new winger is a priority for the North London club, as they have failed to create chances from the touchline this season.
Club captain Heung-Min Son has struggled to find consistency this season and it looks like the South Korea international is way past his best now. The 32-year-old has also lost his place in the starting eleven and has been replaced by January signing Mathys Tel in recent weeks. However, Tel has also not managed to make a great impact since arriving from Bayern Munich midway through the season.

Spurs’ top-scorer this season has been right-winger Brennan Johnson. The Welshman has enjoyed a good campaign in front of goal. But the 23-year-old has failed to perform consistently and fans believe that Johnson is a ‘bits-and-pieces’ player. It means that the winger can only perform well when he is going through a purple patch in front of goal.
Tottenham are looking to sign AS Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche
Tottenham are aiming to bolster their squad depth in the summer and bring in a quality winger for next season. With Heung-Min Son facing an uncertain future and Timo Werner heading for the exit doors, the Lilywhites will need to sign a replacement quickly if they want to close the gap on their rivals next season.
As per L’Équipe, Spurs are interested in signing Maghnes Akliouche from AS Monaco in the summer. The 23-year-old has enjoyed a stellar campaign in Ligue1 and the French club are open to let the winger leave in the summer if the right offer comes in. The aforementioned report also adds that Monaco value Akliouche at €60m and would not accept a penny less that the asked price.
However, Tottenham are not the only ones willing to land Maghnes Akliouche in the summer. Liverpool and Nottingham Forest are also aiming to sign the winger as they look to bolster their attack for next season. PSG and Manchester City were also interested in signing the 23-year-old, but both clubs opted out after deeming the price tag to be high.
Tottenham should do everything they can to sign the Monaco winger. He would be an ideal fit at N17 under Ange Postecoglou. The 23-year-old is a left-footed right-winger and likes to cut inside and create chances for his teammates. The Frenchman also tends to initiate a high press in the final third of the pitch and ranks high in recovering possession near the opposition goal. His passing range is second to none and Akliouche tends to weave past defenders before creating space for others.

Signing the 23-year-old would mean that Brennan Johnson would lose his place in the starting eleven. However, it would also mean that the quality of the attack would increase by a notch as Akliouche would provide a different dynamic in the final third of the pitch. He would also link up well with Dominic Solanke up front and create goal-scoring opportunities for the England international.
