Thomas Frank appears to be the leading contender to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur
The atmosphere in north London is beginning to fill with tension again. Tottenham’s season ended on a mixed note: they won the Europa League but were shipwrecked in the league. Finishing 17th not only hit the fans’ spirits, but left the club reeling in terms of the sporting project.
Uncertainty over the bench has been growing in recent weeks, and although it seemed that Ange Postecoglou would stay on, rumours about his future intensified. Now, everything points to a profound change, and the focus has shifted to another Premier League coach.
Tottenham name the possible replacement for Ange Postecoglou
As exclusively revealed by Football Insider, Tottenham will sack Postecoglou despite winning a European title. The 22 league defeats weighed too heavily, and the board considers the domestic performance to have been unacceptable.

Meanwhile, Thomas Frank, the current Brentford manager, is emerging as the favourite to replace him. Alex Crook, in talkSPORT on 1 June, reported that Frank tops the shortlist, although Marco Silva and Roberto De Zerbi are also being considered. Despite losing to Spurs twice this season, Brentford finished tenth, well above the London club.
“Thomas Frank is one of the leading contenders, we know there’s admiration from the Tottenham board for Marco Silva and for Roberto De Zerbi as well. But I think Thomas Frank is very much the frontrunner.”
If Tottenham decide to go for Thomas Frank in earnest, the Danish manager could accept without hesitation. The 51-year-old’s style has players that would fit with what the fans want: intensity, discipline and verticality. Frank usually opts for a five-man defence when playing against top teams and a loose 4-3-3 formation against opponents of his stature.
His teams know how to suffer without losing order and understand when to step up the tempo. For Tottenham, this would mean a more defined identity than the one displayed by Postecoglou, whose team used to break down easily.

Frank would be able to develop players like Kulusevski and Bentancur, who with freedom on the inside can offer much more. But he will need a self-sufficient ‘9’. Someone who can play out from the back, drag markers and finish chances decisively. A profile similar to Ivan Toney or even Dominic Calvert-Lewin would be a better fit than a more mobile striker like Richarlison.
Beyond the tactical, Frank represents a less commercial and more functional bet. He is not a fashionable name, but someone who builds on clarity. And right now, perhaps that’s what Tottenham need most: someone who doesn’t sell illusions, but builds results from consistency.
