Luka Vuskovic excited to test himself against Tottenham’s Europa League squad ahead of his official joining
Having secured Champions League football for next season, Tottenham Hotspur should stand a strong chance of being able to sign some of the European continent’s best talents.
The Lilywhites are keen to reinforce several areas of the squad, however, uncertainty over Ange Postecoglou’s future could scupper their transfer plans. Despite winning the Europa League, Ange Postecoglou is fighting to keep his job at N17. But despite the lack of clarity over who will be at the club’s helm next season, Daniel Levy and Johan Lange are still working in the background to bring new players to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Besides that, Tottenham will be welcoming back several players from their loan spells. One of them will be youngster Luka Vuskovic.

At the tender age of 16, Luka Vuskovic signed for Spurs in a £13m deal from Hajduk Split in 2023. The teenager is currently out on loan with Belgian club KVC Westerlo and has since impressed with his physicality, tough-tackling, technical ability, and surprisingly goal-scoring prowess. Having turned 18, the big Croatian defender is eligible to play for Tottenham when he returns to the club this summer.
It has been reported that the Hotspur Way chiefs have been hugely impressed by Vuskovic’s development on loan at KVC Westerlo, where he amassed 2965 minutes in total across 36 appearances. In addition, he also netted an eye-catching seven goals.
Ahead of officially joining the North London club, Vuskovic was asked about his expectations and personal goals. The youngster from Split admitted he now wants to test what level he is at up to against Postecoglou’s Europa League winning Spurs squad.
“Belgium has proven to be an ideal league at this stage of my career, and I think it is otherwise a great development league because it gives a lot of opportunities to young players,” Vuskovic said in an interview with Večernji list (h/t Sport Witness).
“First of all, I’m looking forward to feeling that level and seeing where I am in relation to the players who just won the Europa League so that I know what I need to work on the most.
“After that, I’ll see in agreement with the club which is the smartest next step. The club has proven to be careful and wise in making decisions so far.”

Vuskovic’s performances in a Westerlo shirt have caught the attention and earned him a call-up to the senior Croatian team. While much of the praise has been directed at his goalscoring prowess, the teenage talent’s ability on the ball and reading of the game at 18 must not be discounted.

The burly central defender’s talent and potential is undeniable, and Vuskovic has already showcased he possesses qualities that belie his age, but development and adaptability takes time. He is still very young, and experience will be vital for him to compete at the highest level.
The best thing about Tottenham in recent years has been their handling of young talents and academy kids. So, Vuskovic is in safe hands, and if Postecoglou is retained, the Croatian gem may get a chance to break into the Tottenham first team next season. As things stand, nothing is decided when it comes to the defender’s immediate future.
