Tottenham are among several clubs keen on signing Al-Hilal goal-machine Aleksandar Mitrovic
Tottenham Hotspur’s summer transfer business is yet to kick off.
Competing in the Champions League after a three-year hiatus would not be easy, and chairman Daniel Levy must upgrade the squad that endured the club’s worst-ever finish in the Premier League this past season. Finishing 17th in the table with 22 league defeats is simply unacceptable, and that has rightly put Ange Postecoglou’s future at N17 in serious doubt.
There is no surprise that Spurs are looking to bring in high-profile players in different areas of the field as they look to build on the Europa League success. There is a clear need to bring in new attackers in the summer after underwhelming performances from some of the key players throughout the campaign.
Club-record signing Dominic Solanke had an up-and-down debut season in North London, while his deputy Richarlison struggled with fitness and form yet again. Son Heung-min’s influence in the final third declined and he also lost his place in Ange’s starting XI. And with the Hotspur Way chiefs open to cashing in on Son, it is essential to bring in a new centre-forward to compete and cover for Solanke next season.
Now, according to an exclusive report from CaughtOffside, Tottenham are among a host of clubs interested in signing Al-Hilal striker Aleksandar Mitrovic. Everton, Manchester United, West Ham United, Wolves, Newcastle United, Napoli and AC Milan are all keeping tabs on the player’s situation at the Saudi Pro League club.
Aleksandar Mitrovic has scored goals for fun since moving to Al-Hilal from Fulham in a £50million deal in 2023. The big Serb has netted 68 goals in 79 appearances, proving his value to the Saudi Pro League side. However, Al-Hilal are prepared to sell or loan him and sign perhaps a different profile of a striker ahead of the Club World Cup.
A return back to the Premier League seems a possibility for the 30-year-old with so many clubs vying for his services. Tottenham are also in the mix, trying to find a quality back-up for Solanke. Mitrovic, in that regard, would fit the bill perfectly.
Spurs need a reliable goalscorer, and Mitrovic has previously shown in the Premier League during his time at Fulham that he is capable of netting all kinds of goals. The Serbian international could prove to be a useful acquisition, but the aforementioned report claims Al-Hilal value him at around £40 million. Mitrovic is currently earning an eye-watering £400,000 per week in Riyadh, but remains open to take a significant wage cut in order to secure a move back to England.

That said, Spurs must try negotiating with Al-Hilal to reduce the transfer fee. If the Saudi club are ready to lower their current valuation of £40million, only then Levy and co. must proceed to sign Mitrovic.
