Luka Vuskovic is set to join Tottenham officially this summer after his impressive loan spell with Belgian club Westerlo
Tottenham Hotspur have been slow movers in the transfer window so far as compared to their Premier League rivals.
Given the doubts surrounding Ange Postecoglou’s future at White Hart Lane, it’s been tricky for Daniel Levy and Johan Lange to make concrete transfer plans ahead of next season. The North Londoners have been linked with several names, but at this juncture, they aren’t particularly close to making any immediate signings.
The club has announced the release of some players, as well as the permanent signing of Kevin Danso from French club RC Lens. Danso did well in the games he played during the second half of last season and his capture for just £21 million represents a smart piece of business by Spurs.
Tottenham were extremely porous at the back throughout the 2024/25 campaign, so it isn’t surprising that the club chiefs are looking to bolster this area of the squad as a priority. Before making any additions, the Hotspur Way chiefs have to also consider the players that are set to return to the club following their loan spells. One of them is Luka Vuskovic.
Luka Vuskovic is set to arrive at Tottenham this summer, two years on from when the North London club paid £13m to sign him from Hajduk Split. The teenager has spent this past season on loan at Belgian club KVC Westerlo to continue his development.
That loan has proven to be a smart one as he’s been a regular for KVC Westerlo, clocking 2965 minutes in total across 36 appearances. Vuskovic also netted an impressive seven goals, proving himself to be asset from set-pieces and corners. The defender’s form has seen him earn a call-up to his senior national team.
Spurs are starting to realise the player’s value and their plans for him this summer has been revealed. According to reliable journalist Ben Jacobs, the Spurs bosses have been extremely impressed by Vuskovic’s loan spell with Westerlo and are starting to come to terms to how big a talent they invested in a few years ago.
“I think Tottenham were incredibly impressed by Vuskovic and his loan spell at Westerlo. Most of the reason is because they’re realising this is a very intelligent player who can defend solidly, but also has effective attacking qualities as well,” Ben Jacobs told on The Last Word On Spurs.
“That’s exactly the type of player Spurs and Ange Postecoglou like – someone that can make an impact in both boxes.”
Vuskovic showed in the Belgium Pro League that he is an absolute monster in the air. Not only is he fantastic in 1v1 duels but also a prized asset when it comes to attacking set-pieces and corners. And this has been evidenced by his seven goals and two assists in Westerlo colours.
