Fenerbahce make loan offer for 28-year-old midfield star; option to buy on the table

Turkish club Fenerbahce have shown a concrete interest in signing Tottenham Hotspur midfield enforcer Yves Bissouma

Tottenham Hotspur have started plotting changes to their squad by releasing some players.

Ange Postecoglou’s future is yet to be resolved, and after a disastrous domestic season, several players are facing uncertain futures at N17 too. Cristian Romero continues to be heavily linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, while skipper Son Heung-min seemingly finds himself on the chopping block.

Yves Bissouma is also facing an uncertain future as he could be on his way out of White Hart Lane in the coming months. Having arrived from Brighton and Hove Albion amid a lot of fanfare in 2022, the combative midfielder has failed to live up to the lofty expectations of fans and pundits alike in North London. Since Ange Postecoglou’s arrival in 2023, the Mali international has struggled to cement his place in the first XI.

The 28-year-old featured sporadically this past campaign, managing just 16 starts from 38 Premier League outings. Yves Bissouma, who has entered the final year of his contract (Transfermarkt), has been no shortage of suitors in the Premier League. Everton are the latest top-flight club to express an interest in his services. Now, there is a new entrant from Europe.

According to a report from Turkish outlet Hurriyet, Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho is keen to sign Bissouma from Tottenham. The Yellow-Navy Blues have made a loan offer with purchase option for the midfielder and are continuing negotiations with the North Londoners.

Bissouma has racked up 191 Premier League appearances for Tottenham and Brighton combined, and so his addition to the Fenerbahce squad would add the required bite and game management should he excel under Jose Mourinho. The 28-year-old can also operate in an advanced role, as he often does for his national team, and such versatility would bode well for a Mourinho-managed side.

Ange Postecoglou would hope the club cashes in on Yves Bissouma and invests on a new talent

The aforementioned report adds the Malian is also keen on representing Fenerbahce after the Turkish club’s management contacted his agent. This has led to them tabling a loan offer with buy option, although Tottenham are presently seeking a straight sale.

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

Bissouma is a proven Premier League commodity, so it is not surprising that there is plenty of interest in him from English clubs and abroad. After Everton showed interest, Fenerbahce’s entry in the mix is good news for Tottenham looking to cash in on the African enforcer. It is unlikely the Hotspur Way chiefs accept Fenerbahce’s current proposal of a loan with purchase option for the ex-Brighton man.

Should the Turkish club come up with a small loan fee with obligation to buy clause, Tottenham may then change their stance on Bissouma.
