Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven has attracted a lot of plaudits during his stay at N17. The Netherlands international has become a mainstay in the defensive line under Ange Postecoglou and he is one of the first names on the team-sheet for the Lilywhites. However, one of the major concerns for the centre-back is his injury record.

Now, football icon Ruud Gullit is also caving in to the hype and singing Van de Ven’s praises. Talking exclusively to Voetbal Primeur, Gullit said,
“The first time I saw him, I recognised myself, because I always played defender too. He always went forward, was very fast. I thought he’s a good footballer, but I didn’t expect it to go so fast either. He’s very fast, big, strong, so he already had all the ingredients to become very good.”
Ruud Gullit is full of praise for the Spurs defender and suggests that he sees himself while watching Van de Ven play. The football icon points out that the 24-year-old likes to venture forward and he is very quick as well. Gullit then suggests that the ex-Wolfsburg star is a good player and has all the abilities to become a world-class player in the future.
