Tottenham enter race for Scandinavian midfield star garnering interest across Europe

Tottenham join Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen in the mix to sign FC Copenhagen talent Victor Froholdt

Tottenham Hotspur spent large portions of the 2024/25 season crying out for quality, depth and consistency in the squad. They salvaged the past campaign by winning the Europa League and qualifying for the Champions League, but the actual work starts here for Daniel Levy and his team.

Spurs have focused on recruiting exciting, young and dynamic talent who can not only make an impact in the team straightaway but also be a valuable long-term asset. The signings of Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray are prime examples, two players who emerged as rare bright spots in a difficult season for the Lilywhites.

While signing experienced, proven commodities to compete in the UEFA Champions League next season is essential, the club must continue enhancing their pool of young talent. And it looks like they are planning to do so by recruiting a player from Scandinavia.

According to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg on X, Tottenham have entered the race for FC Copenhagen talent Victor Froholdt. German duo Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen are also interested in the teenager, while several other top European clubs continue closely monitoring him.

Many clubs across the European continent have been on scouting trips to watch Victor Froholdt since last year following his promotion to the FC Copenhagen’s first team. The central midfielder has enjoyed a breakout 2024/25 campaign in FC Copenhagen colours, netting six goals and supplying five assists in 53 appearances across all competitions. He was a part of the Copenhagen side that beat Silkeborg IF 3-0 in the Danish Cup final last month.

The Danish giants are ready to sell Froholdt this summer for a record transfer fee. Spurs had an offer for the teenage prodigy rejected last year, but with Copenhagen open to offers for him now, they have revived their interest in the player. Froholdt has a contract until June 2028 (Transfermarkt), so his employers are in a strong position to ask for a sizeable fee to sell him.

Tottenham Hotspur star Lucas Bergvall called up for the Swedish international side.

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

The Lilywhites raided the Scandinavian market last year for Bergvall and the transfer has worked out quite well. Froholdt is another such gem from that region of the world, having burst onto the scene this year. It is only a matter of time before he plays for a bigger entity that Copenhagen, thanks to his burgeoning talent and potential.

Having witnessed Bergvall’s rise in stature under Ange Postecoglou at White Hart Lane, Froholdt may be tempted to join the North London club if they make a serious effort to sign him.
