Ange Postecoglou delivers emotional words after parting ways with Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur have officially parted ways with Ange Postecoglou, 16 days after leading them to victory in the Europa League final.
A 1-0 win over Manchester United at the San Mames Stadium in Bilbao brought Spurs a first major trophy for 17 years. The Europa League victory also guaranteed Champions League qualification for Tottenham after a three-year hiatus. However, it came towards the end of their worst Premier League season, with the North London club finishing 17th after losing 22 of their 38 matches.
Ange Postecoglou told fans “season three is better than season two” during the victory parade on the streets of North London to mark Europa League success in his second campaign. But the Australian’s two-year tenure at White Hart Lane has come to an end.
Eventually, the Lilywhites’ performances and results in the Premier League have proven to be worrying enough for chairman Daniel Levy to make a change in the dugout ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Now, Postecoglou has broke his silence with a statement via agency CAA Base, with three words in particular touching the hearts of millions of fans.
CAA Base shared a lengthy statement from the Greek-Aussie tactician on X, which included his thoughts on the Tottenham fans, which he called “the lifeblood of the club”. He signed off by saying: “We are forever connected. Audere est Facere.”
Ange will be remembered forever by the fans for giving them a night in Bilbao to cherish. He kept his word of winning trophies in his second year at clubs and walks out of the club with his head held high.
Daniel Levy now faces the big task of bringing in his replacement. Brentford boss Thomas Frank is now the man considered to be a leading contender for the job. Tottenham will need to pay over £10m to bring the Danish tactician to N17. Thomas Frank is the Bees’ most successful manager in their history by a mile, but the chance to join a ‘Big Six’ club and manage in the Champions League should be massively alluring to him and that could see him jump ship.

The Lilywhites will now be looking to make a swift appointment ahead of the new season, with a busy summer transfer window expected with many first-team stars likely to be offloaded to make room for fresh faces.
