Tottenham superstar set to quit N-17 this summer? Some players and staff certainly think so

Tottenham would not hesitate to sell their skipper Son Heung-min if they receive big Saudi offer this summer

Thomas Frank has agreed to become the next Tottenham Hotspur boss. Following talks over the weekend, the Brentford boss is close to becoming Ange Postecoglou’s replacement.

The vacant managerial post at White Hart Lane has since been linked with the likes of Fulham’s Marco Silva and Newcastle United’s Eddie Howe, but it is Thomas Frank who is increasingly likely to get the keys of the club.

The North Londoners are set for big changes in the squad, with several players expected to leave the club. Cristian Romero continues to be heavily linked with a switch to La Liga, while Everton remain interested in re-signing Richarlison. Now, it appears another Tottenham player could leave in a major squad revamp.

Will Son Heung-min end his stay at Tottenham?

According to an exclusive report from The Telegraph, Son Heung-min has given some players and staff at Tottenham with the impression that he is set to leave the club this summer.

Since arriving at Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen back in the summer of 2015, Son Heung-min has made over 450 appearances in all competitions, while captaining them to the Europa League title this past season. The forward’s contract was due to expire this summer but the club exercised their option to extend his deal by another 12 months, meaning he is now contracted until the summer of 2026.

That of course means this summer presents the best opportunity for the Lilywhites to cash in on the South Korean international, and he has been no short of suitors. Clubs from Saudi Arabia are keen on signing Son, who may have already played his last game in a Tottenham shirt. Saudi duo Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad both are willing to splash up to €50m for the Tottenham captain this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur’s potential new era under Thomas Frank could hinge on landing Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.
Tottenham Hotspur view Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze as Son’s potential replacement.

Son’s alarming dip in form and fitness levels has already been a cause of concern within the club. Even when he managed to recover from a foot injury in time, former boss Ange Postecoglou did not start the 32-year-old in the Europa League final against Manchester United in Bilbao.

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

Set to turn 33 in July, the time is right for Tottenham to move him on and get a decent fee. Keeping that in mind, Spurs have already started scouring the market for potential Son replacements. They have set their sights on Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze to replace the South Korean ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
