Victor Froholdt might swap FC Copenhagen for Tottenham in the summer
Tottenham are looking to bounce back next season after enduring a dismal Premier League campaign. The Lilywhites finished the season just a place above the relegation zone, registering 22 losses along the way. However, the North London club managed to save its blushes by winning the Europa League and ending the season on a massive high.
Winning the competition also ensured Champions League football for next season. But the club should not be satisfied with this and must look to build on the Europa League success instead. Daniel Levy has taken the first necessary step and addressed the managerial situation at N17 following Ange Postecoglou’s departure. The Lilywhites announced the appointment of Thomas Frank as their new manager for next season.
This is a good start to the summer as the North London club has secured a top manager for the foreseeable future. But the fans will hope that Daniel Levy now shifts his focus to the other matter at hand, that is, bringing in new players for next season. Spurs really need some quality in every area of the pitch, and signing players to bolster the squad depth should be the next agenda on Levy’s checklist.
Tottenham are keen to sign FC Copenhagen star Victor Froholdt amid competition
There is no surprise that Tottenham are looking to address the problems in the midfield for next season. With Yves Bissouma facing an uncertain future, the Lilywhites must bring in a new midfielder that could fill the void left behind by the Mali international. It is also important for the club to bring in a new signing that would suit Thomas Frank’s setup for next season.
Spurs are interested in signing Victor Froholdt from FC Copenhagen in the summer amid competition from Eintracht Frankfurt. The Lilywhites view the 19-year-old as an ideal player for Thomas Frank’s system. However, ex-Real Madrid player Thomas Gravesen has urged Froholdt to snub Tottenham’s advances. Speaking to Tipsbladet, Gravesen said,
“Aim higher. Frankfurt is a great club, and Tottenham is a great club, but this guy needs to aim a little higher. Go for the gold. Have ice in your stomach and play a season in the Champions League where you show how good you are as a footballer so you can hit the top shelf.”
The ex-Real Madrid player added,
“Tottenham Hotspur are in a difficult place at the moment, even though they’ve won a trophy in Europe, but come on Victor Froholdt. Show us on the Danish national team and in the Champions League for FC Copenhagen that you belong on a shelf that’s somewhat higher than the two clubs mentioned.”
Thomas Gravesen has urged Victor Froholdt to ‘aim higher’ amid Tottenham transfer links. The ex-Real Madrid player wants the 19-year-old to play at an elite level amongst the best players in the Champions League. Gravesen also points out that Spurs are in a tough place right now despite the Europa League success and might not be the best place for the Danish midfielder to join for next season.

It remains to be seen what the FC Copenhagen star decides to do n the coming weeks regarding his future. Spurs have been long-term admirers of the talented midfielder and he would be an ideal fit in Thomas Frank’s system. Froholdt is an elite carrier of the ball and covers up space in the midfield regularly. His positional awareness is also good for his age and the 19-year-old possesses a high ceiling.
