Finance expert makes shocking revelation about Tottenham honcho’s intentions; new PL rule might be implemented

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has become a villain in the eyes of the fans in recent years

One person that loves being in the headlines for all the wrong reasons is Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy. The Englishman attracts all sorts of media attention and is always in the limelight for one reason or another. As the Lilywhites are looking to kickstart a new era at N17 following the Europa League success, Levy is busy turning the North London club into a commercial giant of English football.

For all of Daniel Levy’s efforts to make Spurs a financial giant, it is fair to say that the Lilywhites have regressed under the Englishman as the results on the pitch have not improved in the last two decades. It is historically proven that Levy tends to discard the footballing decisions by aiming to make the North London club more profitable through commercialisation instead.

Daniel Levy sees football through a commercial lens, and that comes at the expense of results on the pitch. The Lilywhites have focused more on generating higher revenues through sponsorship deals, rather than actually winning silverware and competing for trophies. Jose Mourinho also took a dig at Levy last month by suggesting that the Spurs chairman cares about making profit more than anything else.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is aiming to enforce a new PL rule

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is already under a lot of scrutiny after putting the club through the trenches in the last two decades. Multiple protests held by the fans only indicate one thing… that the Englishman is living on borrowed time at N17 despite making the club a financial giant in recent years.

Now, finance expert Keiran Maguire has come out and delivered some brutal news that will not be taken well by the Tottenham fans. Speaking to TBR Football, Maguire said,

“Daniel Levy would love a smaller Premier League. Although, that might have seen them relegated in 2024-25 if there was an 18-team division. They want a smaller Premier League because it increases the opportunities for pre and post-season tours. Spurs are a global brand and they don’t want to be wasting their time playing small clubs when there are more lucrative opportunities.”

The finance expert added,

“It’s all about yield per fan, per match. It’s not about who the opponents are. If the opponents are more glamorous then Bournemouth or Crystal Palace, that’s more money to be made as far as Daniel Levy is concerned.”

Kieran Maguire has suggested that Daniel Levy would like to have fewer teams in the Premier League in the future. The finance expert added that Levy wants to enforce this as Spurs would get to play more pre-season games, where chances of generating revenue would be higher as compared to playing against a small team in the Premier League. Maguire added that Daniel Levy wants Tottenham to compete against top clubs regularly as the club chairman would make more money at a fast rate in the future.

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

There is no debate to be held here as this is clearly not the right decision. One may also wonder that how is this any different to the ‘Super League’ idea that top clubs announced a few years back. The greed to earn more money might just make football a commercial stint, rather than a sporting spectacle where millions of loyal fans come to watch their favourite team play.
