Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga is set to snub Tottenham and join Newcastle United in the summer
As time ticks on in the transfer window, Tottenham fans are worried that the club might miss out on some of its intended targets yet again. In an ideal world, the Lilywhites would have already made a few signings by now as they prepared to kickstart a new era under Thomas Frank. But that is not the case, and Daniel Levy is under pressure to live up to expectations yet again.
The North London club finished the Premier League campaign just a place above the relegation zone last season. That should have been enough for Levy to know that reinforcements are needed in all areas of the pitch for next season. Many key players underperformed as Spurs found it tough to carve out positive results in domestic competitions.

Club captain Heung-Min Son was one of the many players that underperformed last season. The 32-year-old looked out of ideas and struggled to make regular impact whenever he was on the pitch. The same can be said for Mathys Tel as well. The Frenchman arrived in January, and it is fair to say that he took some time to adapt at N17 before making some meaningful contributions for the team.
Tottenham might miss out on Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga
Tottenham are all set for another setback in the transfer window. There is no surprise that the Lilywhites are getting ready to bring in attacking reinforcements in the summer for next season. As Thomas Frank aims to compete on all four fronts next year, Daniel Levy needs to make sure that the right players are brought in before the pre-season commences.
It was reported earlier that Spurs were aiming to sign Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest. The Sweden international enjoyed a stellar individual campaign last season, and the Lilywhites took notice of that. The report also stated that Forest are not willing to let the Sweden international leave as they prepare for European football next season. Nottingham Forest had also set an asking price of £60m for Elanga’s services.
Now, Tottenham are on the verge of missing out on the 23-year-old in the summer. As per Fabrizio Romano (via X), Newcastle United have placed a £55m bid for the prolific winger. The Magpies are expecting to reach an agreement with Forest as negotiations are underway for the deal to get done in time. The Sweden international is also happy to head for pastures new if the right opportunity comes along.

With the deal moving quickly, Daniel Levy must shift his focus on other alternatives instead. The Lilywhites are already on the verge of signing a similar-calibre player that plays in the same position for next season. Latest reports suggest that West ham star Mohammed Kudus is on the verge of joining N17 as Spurs look to seal the deal for the Ghana international. The 24-year-old is also keen on the move and it is expected to be done quickly without any complications.
