Daniel Levy’s summer strategy under the scanner; Tottenham on course to miss out on another target

Date:

Failing to sign their intended targets has been the story of the summer for Tottenham

The Europa League success that Tottenham endured in May was meant to be the turning point in the club’s history. Many fans believed that Daniel Levy would make the most of the historic achievement and bring in quality players for next season. However, the club chairman has failed to capitalise on the situation and the Lilywhites have not made a statement signing yet.

While other teams are managing to sign their intended targets in the summer, Spurs are struggling to break through negotiations when trying to sign new players. All thanks to Daniel Levy now, Thomas Frank will inherit the same squad that finished just a place above the relegation zone in the Premier League last season.

The club chairman recently put out that Tottenham are aiming to win the Premier League and the Champions League in the coming years. To achieve that, Levy would need to put the money where his mouth is and bring in reinforcements in the summer before it is too late. How can the fans expect Thomas Frank to close the gap on the club’s rivals next season when Daniel Levy is not backing the Dane in the transfer market?

Tottenham are enduring a dismal transfer window as of now

Tottenham have been linked with numerous attackers in recent weeks, but nothing has come into fruition just yet. The Lilywhites were linked with Bryan Mbeumo as soon as Thomas Frank was appointed as the new club manager, but the Cameroon international decided to head to Man United instead. Then came Eberechi Eze, and the result was the same. The England international is reportedly eyeing a move to Arsenal instead.

Fans will hope that third time’s the charm for Spurs as they now look to seal the deal for West Ham star Mohammed Kudus. The North London club cannot afford to proceed slowly with negotiations for the 24-year-old, as Chelsea are also in the mix for his signature. Now, John Wenham has also questioned Daniel Levy’s transfer strategy for signing new attackers. Speaking to Tottenham News, Wenham said,

“It does seem like Kudus is our third choice. First, we were linked with Bryan Mbeumo and Eberechi Eze. It seems like they’re going to Manchester United and Arsenal, respectively. Therefore, it does raise questions that need to be answered. Is Kudus our third choice, and why weren’t we able to attract our first-choice signings, especially with Mbeumo having worked with Frank at Brentford?”

John Wenham has suggested that Mohammed Kudus is Tottenham’s third-choice signing for the wide position, behind Bryan Mbeumo and Eberechi Eze. The Lilywhite Rose owner has questioned Daniel Levy’s transfer strategy and wants to know why the North London club failed to land their first-choice signings earlier in the window. Wenham has also raised questions on why Levy could not convince Mbeumo to join the club, despite the attacker’s previous working relationship with Thomas Frank.

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

The fans would be asking the same questions as Spurs look to miss out on signing another attacker in the transfer window. Signing a new attacker was deemed to be a priority when the transfer window opened. Yet, Daniel Levy failed to convince his top targets to join the club despite numerous attempts. That does not give a good look on the club and the project that Thomas Frank is trying to build at N17.
