Former Tottenham man eyeing summer raid for 28-year-old N17 star; Spurs ready to part ways

Juventus general director Damien Comolli has set his sights on signing Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma

Now approaching the second week in July, Tottenham Hotspur have been subdued in the summer transfer window, with the permanent addition of Mathys Tel still their only piece of significant incoming business as things stand.

If new boss Thomas Frank is to have any chance at achieving success at White Hart Lane in the upcoming season, he needs to be backed sufficiently by chairman Daniel Levy. Much of the focus still remains on the future of several current players, including Yves Bissouma, who has entered the final year of his contract.

The Malian international has struggled to live up to the lofty expectations at N17 following his move from Brighton and Hove Albion in 2022. The central midfielder looked a player reborn in Ange Postecoglou’s first season in charge, only to return to his inconsistent ways this past campaign. He did enjoy a late renaissance and helped Spurs win the Europa League in May, but the Hotspur Way chiefs want to cut ties with him this summer.

Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho has identified Yves Bissouma as a potential option to replace Fred, while he has also attracted interest from Everton. Now, there is another club from Europe keen on securing his signature.

According to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t TuttoMercatoWeb), Juventus are interested in signing Bissouma. General Director Damien Comolli wants to make use of his excellent relationship with Daniel Levy to make a deal for the 28-year-old happen.

Bissouma has gained solid Premier League experience across seven years, and so his addition to the Juventus squad would add the required bite and tenacity should he excel under Igor Tudor. The Ivory-Coast born star can operate anywhere across midfield, and such versatility would bode well for the Turin giants.

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

Juventus are one of the biggest clubs in Europe and remain in rebuilding works under Tudor, which should ideally be appealing to the 28-year-old if they come calling for his services. It remains to be seen whether the Serie A giants make an offer or not, but Spurs must only eye a sale. If not, a loan to buy obligation should work well, just like it did with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Marseille.

After Fenerbahce showed interest, Juventus’ entry in the mix is good news for Tottenham looking to cash in on the combative African midfielder.
