Tottenham officially confirm signing of attacking star from West Ham

Date:

Mohammed Kudus has completed his move to Tottenham from London rivals West Ham United

Tottenham Hotspur have officially confirmed the signing of winger Mohammed Kudus from fellow Premier League club West Ham United, subject to work permit.

Kevin Danso, Mathys Tel and Kota Takai have already signed for the North London club this summer. Mohammed Kudus has become the first significant piece of transfer business done under new boss Thomas Frank. The Ghanaian international has agreed a long-term contract and will wear the number 20 shirt.

The 24-year-old attacker joined West Ham from Dutch giants Ajax in the summer 2023, going on to score 13 goals in 65 Premier League appearances. He was a revelation in his first year in the Premier League, troubling defenders with his flair, directness, dribbling and movement. Kudus’ performances over two seasons at the London Stadium caught the attention of Spurs, who after multiple rejected bids have finally managed to land him.

As per reliable journalist David Ornstein, the North Londoners have paid around £55 million to West Ham for the exciting attacking talent from Nima. Spurs have pulled off a coup by signing Kudus, with Thomas Frank being handed the tools that he needs to ensure success for the club next season.

Mohammed Kudus is a statement signing from Tottenham

A quiet start to the summer transfer window had left the fans frustrated, but they would be now be encouraged by Daniel Levy’s willingness to back Frank with new, exciting signings. Things are suddenly looking brighter on the incomings front, with Kudus becoming the North Londoners’ first marquee signing of the summer.

Kudus is a free-spirited, flair player who can operate in multiple attacking positions. He is a perfect player for Frank who wants his wingers to be direct, creative and capable of scoring goals. After a brilliant first season in English football, last campaign saw the Ghanaian struggle to produce the goods consistently in Graham Potter’s system that looked a bit rigid and favoured the wing-backs rather than the wingers.

Thomas Frank would be delighted in having a player like Mohammed Kudus in his attacking ranks at Tottenham

Frank perhaps wanted a hybrid attacker with experience, and Kudus is that player- and at 24, one would assume that his best years are very much ahead of him. What is more exciting is that the African is now well-versed in the hustle and bustle of Premier League football.

All in all, Spurs have sent a statement across the English top-flight by luring Kudus from their bitter London rivals.
