Tottenham boss Thomas Frank is expected to rely heavily on Mohammed Kudus as the club looks to build on the UEL success next season

Tottenham fans’ patience was finally worth it all after the club confirmed the signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham on a £55m deal. The Lilywhites were in a long battle with the Hammers over negotiations for the 24-year-old. At some point, there was also a worry amongst the fanbase that Chelsea would hijack the deal and land the Ghana international.

But credit where its due, Daniel Levy managed to lower the asking price for the prolific winger significantly as Spurs managed to get their target. The North London club have now added a versatile player in their ranks, and Thomas Frank is expected to get the best out of him at N17. The ex-West Ham star can either play as a right-winger, or as a number ten.

This might just turn out to be beneficial for Thomas Frank, as the Danish tactician looks to compete on all four fronts next season. The 24-year-old’s ability to carry the ball towards the final third of the pitch will help the team massively during transitions. Playing as a right-winger, the Ghana international will provide a different dynamic up front as compared to Brennan Johnson.

Mohammed Kudus needs to prove himself at Tottenham

It is fair to say that Mohammed Kudus has a lot to improve if he wants to make his mark at Tottenham. The Ghana international does not track back constantly to defend the goal, which might turn out to be a problem if it is not addressed immediately. Thomas Frank wants his team to work hard and show effort, and Kudus will also need to adapt to that style quickly.

Now, Perry Groves also believes that the ex-West Ham star needs to improve before being judged at N17. Speaking on talkSPORT, Groves said,

“Kudus has gone there, which I think is a bit of a strange signing. Because not last season, the season before, he had a good season. If you ask West Ham fans, they won’t be crying their eyes out. I saw him a few times again, and his attitude wasn’t great. Under Julen Lopetegui, and when Graham Potter went there, he played him out of position a few times as a false nine, which is ridiculous.”

The Arsenal legend added,

“But again, his reaction when he’s going one-on-one using the ball, his reaction getting back and helping his team out wasn’t good. Now, Frank won’t stand for that whatsoever, but going forward, he can be exciting. The jury is out.”

Perry Groves believes Tottenham signing Mohammed Kudus is ‘strange’, as West Ham fans will not be too upset with his departure due to the mediocre individual campaign he endured last season. The Arsenal legend adds that Kudus was playing out of position under Graham Potter last season, which impacted his performances. Groves then points out that the 24-year-old is not great at tracking back, but believes that he is still an exciting player going forward. And that the jury will be out on him till he gets time to adapt at N17.

Spurs fans will hope that the Ghana international finds his feet at N17. The prolific winger did not enjoy a fruitful campaign last season, as managed to score only five goals and provide four assists in 35 games. So, all eyes will be on Mohammed Kudus and the Ghana international will hope that Thomas Frank can bring out the best in him at Tottenham next season.
