Leicester City have offered Tottenham the chance to sign defensive midfielder Wilfred Ndidi
Tottenham Hotspur have upped their ante regarding transfers since last week as they look to kickstart a new era under Thomas Frank.
After a sluggish start to the transfer window, Spurs have picked up pace and signed Kota Takai and Mohammed Kudus. Not only that, but the North London outfit also triggered the £60m release clause of Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White earlier last week.
However, Daniel Levy and Co. have been met with stiff resistance from Nottingham Forest. The Midlands club have lodged a formal complaint against the North Londoners’ ‘illegal’ pursuit of the player, thereby, putting a deal in jeopardy. The key decision-makers within White Hart Lane may still feel confident that the Gibbs-White deal will eventually go through. However, they cannot sit and wait until this saga gets resolved and must continue working hard behind the scenes to improve Thomas Frank’s squad.
Frank is looking to shore up the midfield unit, especially with Yves Bissouma looking likely to leave. The Mali international has been heavily linked with a move to Fenerbahce in recent weeks, as the Hotspur Way chiefs aim to cash him in this summer. As such, Spurs have been offered a midfielder by a Championship club.
Ben Jacobs says Tottenham have been offered Leicester City midfielder
According to reliable journalist Ben Jacobs, Leicester City have offered Tottenham and several other clubs the chance to sign Wilfried Ndidi.
“They [Tottenham] were offered Wilfred Ndidi, who’s available with a 9 million pounds release clause at Leicester, but a very, very high wage, which is why all suitors that have explored the Ndidi deal want to do that for four or five million because they know that Ndidi has a very big wage,” Ben Jacobs said on Spurs Related podcast.
“And a move like that would be more about squad depth. It would be more about finding an experienced Premier League player.”

Tottenham must try signing Wilfred Ndidi
Following Leicester City’s relegation from the Premier League last season, Wilfred Ndidi’s release clause sits at £9m. The 28-year-old has been a part of the Foxes since January 2017, when he arrived from KRC Genk for €17.6m. He has gone on to make 220 Premier League appearances for the Midlands outfit thus far.
After more than eight years of service, Ndidi looks destined to leave the King Power Stadium. The midfield enforcer signed a new deal at the start of the 2024/25 season, snubbing interest from several clubs to stay at Leicester, but now seems like he won’t be staying around for a second crack at the Championship.
If Bissouma departs, Tottenham must look to replace him with Ndidi. At 28, the Nigeria international still has top-level football left in him, and he could address the Lilywhites’ glaring problem in midfield. A tenacious, tough-tackling defensive midfielder, the Lagos-born man would provide a layer of protection in front of their backline and become a good foil for the likes of Lucas Bergvall and James Maddison.
As his wages are high, Levy must try to sign Ndidi for a lesser fee than his £9m release clause. With him also possessing the experience of playing in the Champions League, the Leicester man could become a valuable addition to Frank’s squad.
