Tottenham Hotspur make contact for Rennes star Arnaud Kalimuendo
Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to bring in a new centre forward in the ongoing summer transfer window, and Daniel Levy & co. are said to have made contact with French side Rennes over a potential transaction to bring Arnaud Kalimuendo to Hotspur Way, though the Lilywhites are not the only club in the running for his signature.
The 23-year-old bagged 18 goals and four assists across all competitions last season, and given that Richarlison has been subject to links with a move away from N17, the North Londoners are clearly looking to replace the Brazilian’s presence in the dressing room. When Thomas Frank was quizzed about the former Everton ace’s future at Spurs, the Dane head coach kept things vague in his answers, though the actions by the Lilywhites suggest that Tottenham are already looking at things as they are to ship Richy out this summer.
And now, French outlet L’Equipe insists that talks have taken place between the North Londoners and Rennes over a possible move for Kalimuendo.
Villarreal also interested in Kalimuendo

The Lilywhites are making advances, but at the moment nothing looks as concrete just yet. But then there is also a verbal agreement between Kalimuendo and his current employers that if a suitable offer were to come in for him, the French giants won’t stand in his way. And that reasonable figure is reportedly around the £26 million mark to get the deal over the line.
But the race is heating up. Spanish giants Villarreal are also said to be in the run for his signatures as the Yellow Submarine look to replace Thierno Barry (who was just sold to Everton), and this opens the door for a tug-of-war for his signatures this summer.
Is Kalimuendo a Wissa alternative?

The timing of this news is more interesting to me than the news itself, given that these links have dropped in just in time when reports are claiming that the Lilywhites are cooling their interest in Brentford striker Yoane Wissa. The North Londoners have been strongly linked with the Brentford forward since Thomas Frank took charge of the reins at Tottenham, but by the looks of it, Wissa doesn’t look like a priority anymore, and this makes links with Kalimuendo an intriguing prospect, especially considering that his age, complemented by his output, can end up fitting into the current project that Daniel Levy has been overseeing at N17.
