Tottenham could have a chance to sign French attacker, Graeme Bailey confirms

Tottenham have held talks with intermediaries working with Paris Saint-Germain forward Kolo Muani

Tottenham Hotspur have been working hard to sign Morgan Gibbs-White, however, Nottingham Forest have been blocking the move for the England international.

Spurs boss Thomas Frank remains keen to add further to his attacking options after Mohammed Kudus’ acquisition from West Ham United. The Dane has greenlighted Son Heung-min’s exit this summer, with the South Korean star now into the final year of his contract. Richarlison’s future also remains uncertain amid latest interest from Palmeiras, leading to the Hotspur Way chiefs evaluating the market for attacking reinforcements.

A reliable back-up for Dominic Solanke is an absolute necessity heading into the 2025/26 season. Solanke had a mixed debut season in North London following his big-money move from Bournemouth, and while he was not a prolific goal-getter, his contributions were underrated in Ange Postecoglou’s system. And that was majorly felt when the England international was sidelined for more than a month.

That said, Tottenham could now have a chance to land a striker they were interested in signing during the January transfer window.

Randal Kolo Muani back on Spurs radar

Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham in the 2024 winter window. In fact, reports back then claimed that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, alongside director of football Johan Lange, had flown to Paris to try and negotiate a deal to sign the 26-year-old. However, in the end, the player rejected a move to Tottenham and joined Juventus on loan instead.

Randal Kolo Muani managed to score 10 goals in 22 games for Juventus, impressing over the course of his loan in Serie A. The France international did enough in Turin to prompt Juventus in wanting to sign him again. However, they are struggling to get a deal over the line. This has given Spurs a window of opportunity to swoop in.

According to TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey, Tottenham could have a chance to sign Kolo Muani after talks between Juventus and PSG have not progressed well. Juve want him back on another loan deal with an option to make that permanent, but PSG have been insisting on a sale, or, at the very least, a loan with an obligation-to-buy clause inserted into the deal. The Les Parisians want €50 million in a permanent sale, or a €5 million loan with a €45 million obligation.

The 26-year-old wants to re-join Juve; however, he is also open to the prospect of moving elsewhere, possibly to England. This would come as good news for Tottenham, who are in a desperate need of another striker to compete and cover for Solanke.

It is understood that the Lilywhites still hold an interest in the PSG striker, and intermediaries working with the player have spoken to them.

“Kolo Muani’s move to Juventus has stalled. They want him back, but they want a loan with an option. PSG are not keen, and they believe there are other clubs willing to take him on better terms,” Graeme Bailey exclusively told TBR Football.

“Kolo Muani has enjoyed life in Turin, but we are told that he remains keen on England – he was very close to joining Tottenham in January. Spurs are one of those contacted again, but so have the likes of Manchester United and Newcastle, both of whom are obviously in the market for new forwards.

“He is suddenly a name who is possibly back on the market, and he is intriguing to these Premier League clubs. He is still seen as a huge talent.”

It will be interesting to see whether PSG would have the same demands over a deal for Kolo Muani if Tottenham want to sign him, or they show some flexibility. If they become ready for a loan with an option to buy, like the Mathys Tel deal, the North Londoners must sign the French star.
