Tottenham midfielder George Abbott has been urged to leave on loan
The 2024-25 season was special for us. We defeated Manchester United in the Europa League final to secure a return to the Champions League. This victory was not just a trophy; it was a sign that Tottenham are now ready to touch new heights again, but the Premier League performance was a disaster. Before the new season, the club has appointed Brentford’s former manager Thomas Frank as the new manager. Frank’s focus is clear, and that is to make the team technically, mentally and strategically strong. The transfer window will be of utmost importance in this task.
For the last few seasons, we have been facing ups and downs. Sometimes we were in the race for fourth place, and sometimes out of European football. However, now the picture might change for the better. The presence of a coach like Thomas Frank has brought new energy to the locker room. The club has already added new strength to their attack. This is a sign that we are not just returning to the Champions League, but we are preparing to stay there.
Mohammad Kudus has now joined Spurs. His entry has given a different edge to our attacking line. Mohammed Kudus draws comparisons with former Spurs midfielder Mousa Dembele. At the same time, the discussion about young player George Abbott has started again. While playing for Notts County last season, he scored a great volley which was chosen as the ‘EFL Goal of the Season’. Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham told Tottenham News that Abbott should now take the next step towards a Championship club. He believes that Abbott’s stature has now become bigger than League Two.
“With Abbott, I think he needs to move up two divisions.
I think he’s good enough because he’s versatile and can play right back or centre midfield. I think he should be aiming for a Championship club.
Which one that is, I don’t know, but I think he deserves to go into the Championship for his loan, having done so well in League Two last year”
Abbott’s next step: Looking for an opportunity

John Wenham’s opinion is valid. Abbott can perform well not only in midfield but also at right back. This multifaceted ability makes him special for Championship clubs. The 19-year-old Englishman proved in the last league that he is ready to play at a higher level.
Abbott needs a chance to show his progress
As fans, we completely agree that Abbott should now look to the Championship. His talent, mindset and versatility can flourish at this level. Staying in League Two could stunt his development, while the direct pressure of the Premier League could be too much for him. The Championship’s fast-paced play and tactical defending will make him better. He needs to be sent to a club that will give him minutes and that plays progressive football.
Giving players like Abbott the right platform is part of long-term planning. The right club, sent to him now, could make him the backbone of our midfield tomorrow. This transfer window is not just about buying big names, but about building the foundations for our future. Frank’s vision and the board’s proactiveness are signalling this – Tottenham are not looking back now.
