Tottenham Hotspur have officially made only one signing so far. The Lilywhites have brought in Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United, and the Ghanaian has done brilliantly to make a first impression.
There is another signing that is on the way and has been effectively completed. Spurs have agreed a deal with Bayern Munich to sign talented Portuguese defensive midfielder Palhinha on a loan deal with an option to buy.
This currently gives Thomas Frank a number of options in his squad who can play as a defensive midfielder. Pape Matar Sarr, Yves Bissouma, Archie Gray, Rodrigo Bentancur and now Palhinha can all play in that position and Spurs don’t necessarily need another play-breaker.
Rajpal Brar allays fears

Despite this, the club continues to be linked with Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjulmand. Now, medical expert Dr. Rajpal Brar has allayed concerns of the ankle injury that he suffered last season, providing a green light for the move.
As quoted by Tottenham Hotspur News, here is what he had to say:
“Spurs may take a closer look at his most recent injury history if it was related to his ankle injury from the start of the season. His general availability last season and game time suggest that he should be fine, but it’s still worth checking. I do not expect him to have issues adapting to the Premier League, either.”
Hjulmand has been ever-present for Sporting CP for the past couple of seasons. His development has been rapid and he now seems ready to move to a big club to continue his career.
Tottenham will have a problem of plenty
The Danish midfielder is no longer at an age where he can be considered a young player, breaking through. He is 26 and entering the prime years of his career and will want to play at a club that is much bigger than Sporting CP, with all due respect.
However, unless Tottenham were to sell one of the defensive midfield options in their squad, they don’t need the services of the €50m-rated midfielder. It would just create a problem of plenty and they would better off focussing their efforts elsewhere.
The next few days and weeks should provide further clarity on whether or not Tottenham are keen on signing Hjulmand. Only time will tell how things play out going forward.
