Tottenham could now sign “world-class talent” at a £60m discount after asking price drops

Tottenham Hotspur have a very talented young squad that is only bound to get better as the season progresses. The likes of Mikey Moore, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall are starlets who have the potential to develop into generational players in their position.

Ex-manager Ange Postecoglou, who was let go earlier this summer despite winning the Europa League trophy for the North London club last season, showed immense trust in youngsters and made them key components of his project.

Even his transfer dealings showcased this trend and Spurs fans would hope for his successor, Thomas Frank, to continue in the same note. The Danish tactician used a lot of youngsters during his stint at Brentford.

Tottenham see Tyler Dibling’s asking price drop

Now, as per journalist Graeme Bailey on Give Me Sport, Tottenham could now push to sign Southampton youngster Tyler Dibling this summer after the Saints have dropped his asking price. Here is what he said:

“Southampton once asked for £100million, but I am told that £40million will get the deal done.”

This basically means that the North London club could sign Dibling at a £60m discount. At £40m, signing the English youngster would be a no-brainer for Tottenham Hotspur, who can add yet another generational talent to their ranks.

Southampton had a torrid season in the Premier League in 2024/25 and now find themselves back in the Championship but it is safe to say that the only silver lining they had was the breakthrough of Tyler Dibling, who can bring them a windfall.

Everton are also in the race

Apart from Spurs, Everton are another club that made an attempt to sign the “world-class talent” by submitting a £27m bid, which was immediately rejected by Southampton. The North London club can now hijack the Toffees’ move.

Dibling, who is just 19-years-old, is still a raw talent who is developing with every passing game. He needs the right kind of environment to learn and grow and Thomas Frank might be the ideal man to coach him and bring the best out of him.

The next few weeks should provide more clarity on whether Tottenham make an attempt to sign Dibling. It is a significant fee that they have to pay but one that could look like a bargain in the long run. Let’s wait and see if Daniel Levy is ready to take the bait this summer transfer window.
