Aston Villa are in no mood to sell their star playmaker Morgan Rogers this summer amid Tottenham interest
It has not been an easy week for Tottenham Hotspur and our fans.
Son Heung-min has been heavily linked with an exit for months now but last week saw him finally announce his departure from the club. The 33-year-old played his last game in a Spurs shirt against Newcastle United in Seoul on Sunday. He is set to join MLS club Los Angeles FC for around £20m, bringing an end to his 10-year-stay in north London.
On the same day, the Lilywhites were dealt a big blow as James Maddison appeared to suffer a very serious injury. The creative midfielder was in great discomfort after suffering a non-contact injury to his knee and stretchered off the pitch, with boss Thomas Frank’s early prognosis of the injury not boding well for everyone associated with Tottenham.

Maddison’s injury is yet another setback for Thomas Frank, and it looks like he could be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines. In the wake of the England international’s serious-looking injury, the Hotspur Way chiefs have started scouring the market for his replacement.
Tottenham, Chelsea interested in signing Aston Villa forward
Morgan Rogers has quickly become one of the most exciting prospects in the Premier League since moving to Aston Villa from Middlesbrough in January 2024. The 23-year-old enjoyed a stellar 2024/25 campaign at Villa Park, where he racked up a tally of 29 goal involvements.
Such dazzling displays has unsurprisingly caught the attention of clubs like Tottenham and Chelsea. However, according to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT, Aston Villa insist that Morgan Rogers is off the market this summer. They are likely to demand around £100m to scare off their star playmaker’s potential suitors.

The England international still has five years remaining on his contract (Transfermarkt), so Villa are entitled to ask for a substantial fee for him although they are in no mood to enter into negotiations with any club. The report adds Spurs view Rogers as a “great option” after missing out on Nottingham Forest playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White, while Chelsea have maintained an interest in him despite signing a few attacking players in this transfer window.
Tottenham must move on to other targets
Villa are not interested in selling Rogers, striking a big blow to Spurs’ hopes of landing him this summer. The ex-Manchester City academy talent is a versatile footballer who can fulfil many attacking roles, and that combined with his flair, creativity, ball-progressing ability and goalscoring, makes him a fantastic fit in Frank’s system at White Hart Lane. He’d have been a great option to replace Maddison in the No.10 role and lift the technical flooring of the squad.
However, signing Rogers does not look possible this summer. That being said, Daniel Levy and Co. must quickly move on to other targets to sign a No.10. One former Spurs man who is already enamoured by Rogers is Glenn Hoddle, who once compared him to a young Wayne Rooney.
