Tottenham Hotspur, in recent seasons, have established themselves as a breeding ground for young talents. Their transfer policy has reflected the same, as the club has focussed on signing youngster with high-potential.

In Ange Postecoglou, they also had a manager who put immense faith in youth. The Australian tactician did not care what the age of the player was and gave them a chance in the first-team as long as they showcased what he wanted to see in training.

The likes of Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Mikey Moore all got a lot of opportunities last season, despite their age. It looks like this is a success formula that Spurs are keen on continuing under Thomas Frank.

Tottenham and Everton were linked with Tyler Dibling

One youngster Spurs have been linked with this summer, quite extensively, was Tyler Dibling. However, the North London club were not in active negotiations with Southampton over a potential move. One club that were in advanced talks to sign him was Everton.

Now, as per reliable Athletic journalist David Ornstein, Everton are considering looking at other players after the Saints presented their counter-offer on what they expect to part ways with the English youngster this summer.

Southampton want £45m in fixed fee plus £5m easily achievable add-ons and also a 25% sell-on clause to part ways with Dibling this summer. They clearly know that they have one of English football’s most exciting talents and want a premium price to part with him.

For the Toffees, this is beyond their price point for Dibling and they are now willing to look at other targets and abandon the race for Dibling. This, inadvertently, opens the door for Tottenham to make a late move in this summer.

Unlikely the Merseyside club, Tottenham should not have any problem meeting the demands of Southampton to sign the youngster this summer. Considering his potential, this price could prove to be a bargain in the future.

Currently though, Spurs have other priority positions they are focussing on. However, should they reach the end of the market with Dibling still available for a move, it would be a no-brainer to add him to their roster. Let’s wait and see how Daniel Levy & co. go about the same in the coming weeks.
