Tottenham Hotspur have revived their interest in Galatasaray winger Baris Alper Yilmaz
Tottenham Hotspur are expected to be one of the busier Premier League clubs during the final few weeks of this summer transfer window.
After losing club icon Son Heung-min to MLS club Los Angeles FC, and now James Maddison for the majority of the season following an ACL rupture, it is absolutely imperative that Spurs chiefs bring in a fresh, exciting attacking alternative before September’s transfer deadline.
The north Londoners’ offensive play in the market will require a strategic need to replace Son, who ended his 10-year stay in the Premier League and moved to America earlier this week. With his departure, head coach Thomas Frank has lost not only a goalscorer, but also a key player in the team, forcing the club to look for a reliable replacement.

Tottenham revive interest in Galatasaray winger
The Hotspur Way chiefs have unsurprisingly started scouring the market for players to replace Son. And by doing so, they are once again showing interest in Galatasaray winger Baris Alper Yilmaz.
According to a report from Turkish outlet Takvim, Tottenham are looking to make another attempt to sign Galatasaray star Baris Alper Yilmaz and are ready to table an official offer. The player’s agent has informed the Galatasaray management of the Premier League club’s plan to make an offer.
Yilmaz was heavily linked with a move to Spurs last summer after an impressive Euro 2024 with Turkiye. Despite not making any goal contributions in the tournament, the winger caught the attention of Tottenham scouts with his explosive pace, energy and flair. However, an injury sustained block any potential move to the Premier League and he had to stay put at Galatasaray.

The Turkiye international went on to enjoy a strong 2024/25 season in Galatasaray colours, netting 14 goals and supplying six assists on top of that in 48 games. Predominantly a left-winger, Yilmaz was used in multiple positions from defence to attack by manager Okan Buruk and he delivered the goods.
Galatasaray manager advises his star winger to go to Tottenham
Earlier this summer, Galatasaray boss Okan Buruk advised Yilmaz to reject a move to West Ham, sign a new deal at the club and go to either Tottenham or Liverpool in the summer of 2026. The player has seemingly neither shown any inclination towards joining West Ham or signing a new deal at the Rams Park, which gives Tottenham a great opportunity to swoop in now.
However, with all due respect to Yilmaz, Spurs would be wise to target someone more high-profile to replace Son on the left flank. Nonetheless, the Turkiye international could become a decent squad option for Spurs, adding pace, flair and dynamism to Frank’s attacking unit.
