Tottenham forward Mathys Tel believes the club is onto good things under Thomas Frank despite current poor form
The summer transfer window for Tottenham started with a buzz in the air at N17 as the club had just ended their trophy drought by winning the Europa League. However, the slow approach taken by Daniel Levy to conduct business since signing Mohammed Kudus has made the fans question the Spurs chairman’s intentions for next season.
The Lilywhites are clearly struggling on the pitch during pre-season games under Thomas Frank. For now, there is no cohesion amongst the players as they try and adapt to the Dane’s system. The ex-Brentford boss is also going to be without Heung-Min Son as the South Korean left for the MLS earlier last week.

To make matters worse, Spurs are also going to be without James Maddison after the England international suffered an ACL injury in a pre-season game. But there is still a feeling of excitement amongst the fanbase as the North London club looks to build on the Europa League success under a new manager.
Tottenham forward Mathys Tel is still positive about the new season
After Tottenham suffered a humbling defeat in Bavaria against Bayern Munich, the difference in quality was clear between the two teams. The Bundesliga giants were miles better than the Lilywhites, despite playing their second-choice team for the 2nd half. The game just showed that Thomas Frank’s men still have a long way to go before competing hard against top teams in the Champions League next season.
However, Spurs forward Mathys Tel is still positive about the upcoming season under Thomas Frank. Speaking to Tottenham’s media team, Tel said,
“This is Champions League level. We’re going to play in the Champions League so we need to be ready for these games. We’re going to have a lot of games like this (against high-quality opposition) so we need to be ready.”
The Spurs forward added,
“Pre-season has been positive for me because we’ve learned a lot. We just need to work harder. I’m looking forward because we have a good team, a good club, good fans and I have lot of confidence about this season.”
Mathys Tel has urged his teammates to be ready for the Champions League as the games are not going to be easy. The talented forward believes that Tottenham endured a good pre-season under Thomas Frank, having learned a lot. But Tel believes that the squad needs to buckle up and work hard if they want to compete on all four fronts next season.
The fans will be happy to see that the players recognise that they need put in more effort. The performance against Bayern Munich was an eye-opener, and Thomas Frank would have learnt a lot coming out of that game. The real test for Spurs begins now as they take on PSG first in the UEFA Super Cup, before kickstarting their Premier League campaign next weekend.
