Tottenham legend Harry Kane might still want to win a trophy with the Lilywhites before retiring
Who wouldn’t love Tottenham re-signing Harry Kane before the legendary calls it quits on his playing career? The England international produced miracles at N17 week in week out during his time at the club. His ability to step up for the Lilywhites during tough times and helping the club win big games was second to none.
But that is not the only thing that the Spurs faithful adore about the 32-year-old. The prolific striker’s impact on the youngsters and his teammates showed his ability to lead from the front as well. However, Kane’s departure was bittersweet for many fans as they knew he deserved to play for a team that competes for the biggest trophies every season. And not to anyone’s surprise, the England international is now smashing it up at Bayern Munich. The legendary striker was Bayern’s top-scorer last season, helping the club win the Bundesliga title (his first major trophy).
Tottenham might not give up on landing Harry Kane next summer
It has become common knowledge now that Tottenham need a new striker that would elevate the quality of the squad and help the Lilywhites win titles in the future. With the club missing out on many potential targets in the current transfer window, it looks like the wait for a new #9 will go on till 2026. This might be a blessing in disguise as Spurs will then have the chance of bring back a legend to the club again.
While speaking to Football Insider, reliable journalist Pete O’Rourke has provided a glimmer of hope that Harry Kane would return to N17. O’Rourke said,
“If Harry Kane does become available next summer, clubs will be interested. Tottenham have first refusal on the deal, so could bring Kane back. It’s part of the contract; Daniel Levy admitted it after Harry made the move to Bayern Munich.”
The journalist added,
“Basically, they can match any other club’s bid for Harry Kane, so if they’re willing to bring him back, they can do a deal and it would be a popular one among their fans.”
Pete O’Rourke believes Harry Kane will garner a lot of attention from big clubs next summer. However, the journalist adds that Tottenham will be in the driver’s seat as they a have a ‘first-refusal’ on any deal involving Kane. O’Rourke pointed out that the Lilywhites can match any offer made for the legendary striker next summer, and they will have the first preference on any possible deal for the 32-year-old.
Football Insider also reports that Harry Kane will have a £56m release clause in his Bayern Munich contract that will get activated in 2026. This might tempt Tottenham to bring their hero back where he belongs for a fairy-tale ending.
