Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze is considering a move to Tottenham Hotspur over Arsenal
Tottenham get ready to kickstart a new era at N17 as they prepare for their season-opener against PSG in the UEFA Super Cup final. The Lilywhites have the chance of winning a second major trophy in the space of three months. And this time, the North London club are looking in better shape tactically than they did under Ange Postecoglou in May.
Fans will hope that Thomas Frank’s men step up and give PSG a tough fight before the new Premier League season officially begins. But the Danish tactician is already struggling to name a strong lineup as the club will be without their star player James Maddison. The England international ruptured his ACL in a pre-season game earlier this month.
Maddison is all set to miss out on most parts of the season, forcing Daniel Levy and co. to bring in a new attacking midfielder quickly. The Lilywhites do not have a natural #10 n their ranks that can replace the England international heading into the new season. So, it is crucial for Levy to sign a big-game player as Spurs prepare for life in the Champions League.
Tottenham are favourites to land Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze
Tottenham have upped their ante in the transfer window in the last few days following James Maddison’s injury. Out of nowhere, the Lilywhites reignited their interest in Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze earlier this week. The England international is said to be interested in a move if Spurs can agree a fee with Palace for his signature. But arch rivals Arsenal are also keeping tabs on him and want to land him for next season.
Now, Darren Bent has given his verdict on where Eberechi Eze should go and play following his proposed exit from Crystal Palace. Speaking on talkSPORT, Bent said,
““If you’re looking at Arsenal and you’re looking at Tottenham…yes Spurs are in the Champions League. Yes, they won a trophy last season. But they finished fourth to bottom.”
The ex-Spurs player added,
“In my opinion, Arsenal are in a better place. They finished 2nd three times in a row. Arsenal, to move forward, are in a better place. I think for Eze, Arsenal would be the better for him.”
Darren Bent acknowledged that Tottenham have won a trophy last season and are playing in the Champions League. But the pundit also shares that the Lilywhites finished 17th in the league table as compared to Arsenal, who finished second. Bent believes the Gunners are in a better place and Eberechi Eze would thrive more at the Emirates Stadium under Mikel Arteta.
It is a tough decision to make for the England international. He has clearly outgrown Crystal palace, and it looks like either one of the two North London clubs will land him before the new Premier League season commences. Signing for Spurs has its own challenges, as the club is always under scrutiny. But playing under Thomas Frank will surely be tempting as the Danish tactician is known for developing players.
