Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven is ready to test himself against some elite teams in the Champions League
The moment all Tottenham fans have been waiting for will finally arrive at N17 after two long and hard seasons. The Lilywhites will finally face some elite teams in the Champions League in the upcoming season. Now, Spurs defender Micky van de Ven is excited by the prospect of playing under the lights at N17 in the Champions League. Speaking to UEFA, Van de Ven said,
“Tottenham is a club that belongs there. For myself, it’s really nice because I haven’t played it yet. So, it will be the first time I’ll be playing in the Champions League. That’s a kind of milestone for me, a box I can check.”
The centre-back added,
“For the club and for the fans, of course, those are the nicest games. On Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, dark, with lights – those are the games you live for, to play on the biggest stage. That’s something very nice.”
Micky van de Ven believes Tottenham belongs in the Champions League, and he is looking forward to making his first appearance in the competition. The Spurs defender adds that playing against top teams is what the fans and the players want, so it will be a good exposure. Also, Van de Ven suggests that players long to play on the biggest stage with the lights on.
