Tottenham Hotspur must look to bid again for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze before his release clause expires
Tottenham have upped their ante regarding transfers in recent days as we approach the business-end of the transfer window. The Lilywhites managed to land Mohammed Kudus from West Ham and Joao Palhinha from Bayern Munich earlier in the window. And it all looked okay for the North London club before Heung-Min Son decided to part ways with the club after a ten-year stint.
To make matters worse, James Maddison also ruptured his ACL during the club’s pre-season game against Newcastle United. The England international is all set to miss out most parts of the season, leaving the Lilywhites short of manpower in the #10 position. Now, Daniel Levy must do all he can to bring in a replacement quickly before the new Premier League season commences.

Thomas Frank clearly relies on his midfielders during build-up play. And having a creative player in the middle of the park will surely enhance the quality of the squad going forward. The Danish tactician also wants his #10 to be confident in taking risks and making things tick by roaming around freely in and around the box. So, a player that could fill out all these boxes needs to be brought in.
Tottenham should seal the deal for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze
It is clear that Tottenham are looking to bring in a statement signing in the final few days of the transfer window. There are strong reports linking Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze to Spurs, and the England international is also keen on the move. The 27-year-old wants to play Champions League football regularly as he aims to compete for more trophies. The report also adds that Spurs have overtaken Arsenal for Eze’s signature.
Now, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King has urged the Lilywhites to complete the deal for the Palace attacker quickly. Speaking to Tottenham News, King said,
“Why shouldn’t there be enough time to get it done before Friday? If you want the player, go in with the offer, and I would imagine if this has been in the pipeline, Spurs will have already spoken to his agent. Personally, I think that would be a very good price for a player of that quality.”
The ex-scout added,
“For £68m, you’re talking a player here who, if there was no clause, you’d be looking at anywhere between £80m and £90m. I would say a deal could be on, and I couldn’t see any problems. The only thing that would be a stumbling block is if Palace told him to wait until Friday and up the asking price.”
Bryan King has urged Tottenham to seal the deal for Eberechi Eze before his £68m release clause expires on Friday. The ex-scout believes that signing a player of Eze’s calibre for that price is a no-brainer and the Lilywhites should make a move for him quickly. King adds that the England international would be worth more than £68m if he did not have a release clause, and that speaks volumes about his quality. Also, there is a possibility that the Eagles might be delaying the deal as they want the release clause to expire so that they can up the asking price.
