Tottenham Hotspur linked Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz keen on a move to Serie A club Atalanta

Tottenham Hotspur are anticipating a busy end to the summer transfer window, with talks ongoing to sign both Manchester City winger Savinho and Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze.

Spurs are on the lookout for attacking reinforcements following Son Heung-min’s departure to MLS club Los Angeles FC and the injury setback to James Maddison. The England international suffered an ACL injury in the pre-season draw with Newcastle United in South Korea earlier this month and is expected to be out for around six to seven months.

As far as the incomings are concerned, the Lilywhites have welcomed Mohammed Kudus, Kota Takai and Joao Palhinha, whilst striking permanent deals for Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso. In addition to a winger and a creative midfielder, they require a reliable back-up for club-record signing Dominic Solanke.

Tottenham have been interested in signing Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz

Solanke has missed majority of the pre-season games due to an ankle injury. Richarlison, ideally his back-up, has struggled with persistent injury problems across three seasons in north London, thus, making him an unreliable option to have in the squad. Plus, the Hotspur Way chiefs have been considering offers for the Brazilian forward this summer.

Tottenham target Rodrigo Muniz heading to Serie A

Tottenham have been keeping tabs on Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz since the start of the summer transfer window.

Rodrigo Muniz has essayed the role of a back-up to Raul Jimenez at Fulham in the last two seasons. He struggled for starts across 36 appearances in all competitions during the previous campaign, yet, the striker delivered 13 goal contributions. This has kept the Brazilian’s stock in the market high, with newly-promoted Leeds United having already seen a bid rejected.

However, it looks like the 24-year-old is on the verge of leaving the Premier League. According to transfer news guru Fabrizio Romano on X, Atalanta are confident to get a deal for Muniz over the line. Their talks with Fulham are advancing, with the striker keen on moving to Serie A this summer.

Should Spurs try a 11th hour hijack?

Son’s departure, coupled with Richarlison’s patchy injury record, demonstrates the need for Spurs to sign a striker before the transfer window slams shut. And Muniz appears to be a smart option.

The Brazilian is a calm and composed finisher in front of goal, good at link-up play and physically intimidating. These qualities make him an exciting fit in Thomas Frank’s system. Muniz can also operate as a secondary striker, which further makes it a tantalising prospect as Frank can use him up top with Solanke in certain games when required. In terms of fitness, he’d be an upgrade over Richarlison.

While the Fulham man is keen on a move to Atalanta, there remains a window of opportunity for Daniel Levy and Tottenham to hijack a move. If the player’s valuation is realistic, we must strike.
