Tottenham defender Djed Spence is looking forward to new additions being made before the transfer window shuts
Tottenham are still looking to make a few additions to the squad before the transfer window closes in a few days’ time. The Lilywhites clearly lack squad depth heading into the new season. And that was clear to see during the game against PSG when Thomas Frank’s substitutes failed to make an impact for the North London club.
The fans will hope that Daniel Levy manages to make one or two new signings before the window shuts. Thomas Frank’s men are aiming to compete hard on all four fronts in the upcoming season, so adding more quality to the squad will only be beneficial to the Danish tactician. Not only that, but bringing in new players will always keep other players on their toes.
Spurs endured an injury crisis last season as well under Ange Postecoglou. The same situation cannot be repeated under Thomas Frank as the Dane looks to make Tottenham ‘serial winners’ during his time at the helm. To compete hard in the Champions League and the Premier League, the Lilywhites will need immense depth in every position heading into the new campaign.
Djed Spence believes Tottenham could still bring in new players
Following Heung-Min Son’s unwanted departure to LAFC and James Maddison’s horrific ACL injury, Tottenham are still looking to replace the pair for the upcoming season. So far, the club has managed to up its ante in recent days and have started negotiating with two players. But it remains to be seen whether Daniel Levy manages to get the deals over the line in the coming days.
Now, Spurs defender Djed Spence believes that signing more players will only strengthen the squad for next season. Speaking to Football.London, Spence said,
“Yeah, I mean I’m not sure who has been linked or who is going to come in, but I think whoever comes in will definitely add strength to the squad and will be a good thing for us.”
Djed Spence is not keen to share any updates on players that are linked with Tottenham, and rightly so. But the Spurs full-back believes that new players will come in and strengthen the squad by adding more depth and quality. Spence adds that bringing in new players will only be beneficial to the club and it can only be seen as a positive moving forward.
The Lilywhites are linked with a move to sign Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze. The England international has made it clear that he wants to join Spurs in the summer for the upcoming season. And Tottenham have opened club-to-club talks with the Eagles for a potential solution to land the 27-year-old in the coming days. Will Eze don the Lilywhite jersey once the transfer window ends?
