Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a late summer move for Atletico Madrid star Conor Gallagher
After a memorable 2024-25 season, in which Tottenham Hotspur were able to break their trophy curse by lifting the UEFA Europa League trophy, Spurs will now be gunning to start their next season with a Premier League match against Burnley tomorrow.
However, despite their trophy-winning end to the last season, Tottenham are not starting this new season at the best of times. They had to face heart-break in the UEFA Super Cup recently, as they were defeated in the penalty shoot-out despite having kept one of the most in-form teams in Europe, Paris Saint-Germain on the ropes for most of the game.
Furthermore, Spurs are also facing a lot of injury problems even before the start of the season. In fact, they have up to six of their players out with an injury. In such a scenario, it is not too surprising to see them linked with new players at this late stage of the 2025 summer transfer window.
A Premier League proven target
As per a report from CaughtOffside, one of the latest players that they have been linked with is the the Atletico Madrid midfielder Connor Gallagher. The report claims that the London side is willing to shell out up to €50 million for the Englishman, but it remains to be seen whether this amount will be enough to tempt the Colchoneros into making a sale.

Furthermore, Spurs will also be facing competition from other sides, as another Premier League club, Newcastle United, are also in the race for his signature.
The Englishman would be a good addition to Thomas Frank’s side
With two important midfielders, Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison, both out with injuries, there is no doubt that Gallagher would be a very good addition to Thomas Frank’s team.
He will bring his characteristic energy and proactivity in the midfield, and can cover several spots in the middle of the pitch. The Englishman would also contribute a lot to the defence. Furthermore, Gallagher also has a lot of experience playing in the Premier League, as he has played both of Chelsea and Crystal Palace so far in his career.
However, he would still not be able to bring as much creativity as Tottenham will be missing with the absences of Kulusevski and Maddison. But his combative presence in the middle of the park should free up the likes of Mohammed Kudus and Eberechi Eze (if he signs) to push higher up, where they can make a telling difference.
Overall, this would be quite a good addition to the Tottenham Hotspur team that will be looking to build up on its success from the last season, and will also be looking to make its name in the UEFA Champions League this season. But for now, it remains to be seen how this story develops and whether Gallagher would play for Spurs next season.
