Daniel Levy in ‘direct talks’ with rival PL chairman to seal key summer deal; Tottenham put in £60m offer

Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze has made it clear that he wants to move to Tottenham in the coming days

Tottenham may finally be able to land one of their top summer targets after pursuing the player for almost two months now. The Lilywhites are clearly looking to make the step up and challenge on all four fronts this season. And this can only be achieved if Thomas Frank has solid depth in his squad and world-class players in each position for this season.

Now that the summer transfer window is ending in a few days’ time, Spurs fans will hope that Daniel Levy manages to bring in few players that could add more quality in the squad. The Lilywhites were slow during the initial stages of the transfer window, but have since upped their ante after a few departures and injuries.

Tottenham are pushing to land Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze in the coming days.

Earlier this month, James Maddison ruptured his ACL in a pre-season game against Newcastle United. The England international had just recovered from an injury, only to be sidelined again for most parts of this season. So, to fill out the void left behind by the ex-Leicester star, Daniel Levy has gone into the market in search of a similar profile.

Tottenham chairman Levy wants Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze at N17

Tottenham are preparing themselves to face some of the best teams in Europe in the Champions League. If the Lilywhites have any intentions of going deep in the competition, then they must find a way to bring in more quality players in the coming days. Thomas Frank has also called the club to be active in the transfer market as we approach the business-end of the summer window.

It was reported earlier that Spurs have held a long-standing interest in Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze. The Lilywhites also managed to beat Arsenal in the race to lure him to N17 if Spurs agreed a deal with Palace to sign the England international. The report also stated that Daniel Levy has strong relationship with Eze’s representatives, and the player is also keen on the move.

Now, there is a new update regarding the transfer saga involving the Palace attacker. As per Fabrizio Romano (via X), Daniel Levy has opened ‘direct talks’ with Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish in the hopes of striking a deal for Eberechi Eze. The Spurs chairman wants this deal to be sorted out soon before the transfer window shuts. The journalist also adds that the Lilywhites have put in a new bid worth £55m (plus £5m in add-ons) to land the 27-year-old.

It remains to be seen how Crystal Palace counter this in the coming days. With not much time left in the window, the Eagles will try to delay proceedings until they find a replacement for Eze. However, the player is pushing for a move and there is a feeling amongst the fans that the England international will don the Lilywhite jersey in a few days’ time.
