Tottenham Hotspur beat Chelsea to the signing of Mohammed Kudus this summer
Tottenham fans may have been thanking the stars that Mohammed Kudus snubbed the opportunity to join other clubs and chose the Lilywhites. The Ghana international has already shown in his short time at the club that he is a special player. And his Premier League debut for Spurs against Burnley will be remembered for a long time to come.
The 25-year-old was head-and-shoulders clear than anyone else on the pitch, and he showcased some trickery as well on the right flank. The cherry on the cake was that the ex-West Ham star managed to grab two assists as well after beating his man and putting in sublime crosses that were there to be attacked.

Chelsea tried to land Mohammed Kudus before Tottenham sealed the deal for his signature
Mohammed Kudus was quick to suggest that it was always going to be Tottenham for him if he ever decided to part ways with West Ham. The Ghana international has already turned heads at N17 and done enough to show that he is going to be a superstar in North London for years to come. John Wenham also called Kudus a ‘phenomenal signing’ after the winger’s impressive performances early on in his Spurs career.
Spurs confirmed the arrival of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham earlier last month. The Lilywhites had multiple bids rejected for the prolific winger, before agreeing to land the 25-year-old for £55m. The Ghana international was also keen to play under Thomas Frank, and informed the Hammers about his desire to join the Lilywhites.
However, there is new information that has come to light now regarding Kudus’ transfer to Spurs. According to The Sun, Chelsea had offered Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (whom they valued at £30m), plus £20m cash up-front for Mohammed Kudus. But West Ham decided to snub the offer as they valued Dewsbury-Hall at £20m instead. The report also states that the Ghana international had agreed personal terms with the Blues before the deal fell through.
But this should not be a reason for Tottenham fans to not back Kudus as he prepares to make his mark at N17. What happened in the past cannot be unchanged now. And the fans should focus on the fact that the Ghana international chose to join Spurs, despite the offer from Chelsea. He will surely be a success at the club if he continues to perform in the same manner that he has until now.
