Tottenham need to up their ante in the last few days of the transfer window and bring in a quality player
There are more negatives than positives to take from how the transfer window has gone so far for Tottenham. The Lilywhites are in shambles right now, regarding the movements off-the-pitch. And it certainly looks like Daniel Levy has once again failed to deliver when it matters the most, leaving the manager with an uphill task of rescuing the season.
Big things were expected from Spurs after they managed to beat all odds and win the Europa League at the end of last season. Fans were expecting quality players to come in so that the Lilywhites could take the next step towards maintaining the success under Thomas Frank. But all the efforts from the club have gone in vain as they prepare for the last few days of the transfer window.

The North London club were on the verge of sealing the deal for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze this week. The player agreed personal terms with Spurs and the only thing left was for Daniel Levy to reach an agreement with the Eagles regarding the add-ons. The Spurs chairman ‘dilly-dallied’ the move, tempting Arsenal to make an eleventh-hour attempt to hijack the player. And that is exactly what the Gunners did.
Tottenham need to move on quickly and sign quality players
There is no hiding from the fact that Tottenham have been publicly embarrassed by their arch rivals this week. The Lilywhites have missed out on their top target after agreeing the personal terms with the player. And now, the north London club have the hard task of moving on from the mess as if nothing happened. With only a few days remaining before the window shuts, Daniel Levy will need to go all-in to sign a quality player.
Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold has now urged the club to rescue the transfer window by signing quality players quickly. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Gold said,
“They’re going to have to go out there, and I know this is an overused expression, but they’re going to have to act like a big club. They’re going to have to go out there and put the money down to sign someone that is big and that the other club just cannot refuse their offer.”
The journalist added,
“It’s just the only way they’re going to save this window really. Otherwise, they’re going to leave Thomas Frank in a situation where he’s going to be doomed to fail because he’s not going to have the numbers and quality required to compete on all four fronts.”
Alasdair Gold wants Tottenham to enter the market and ‘act like a big club’ as we approach the last few days of the transfer window. The journalist wants the Lilywhites to put in an offer that the other clubs just cannot refuse while negotiating a deal for their targeted players. Gold believes that is the only way to save the summer and not set up Thomas Frank to fail at N17 as he looks to compete hard on all four fronts.
Daniel Levy promised big things for Spurs earlier in the summer as the club prepared for life under Thomas Frank. But the fans always had that doubt that the club chairman never walks the talk and tends to make fake promises. It seems like the failed transfer of Eberechi Eze is the final nail in the coffin for Levy as far as the fans are concerned.
