Thomas Frank remains upbeat despite recent mishaps that the Tottenham squad will be strengthened before the transfer window slams shut
Tottenham Hotspur have not had a plain sailing when it comes to signing players during this transfer window.
Morgan Gibbs-White was an early Spurs target, but Nottingham Forest blocked a move. They sought legal action against the north London club, leading a potential deal to collapse. Gibbs-White eventually signed a three-year lucrative contract with Nottingham Forest.
Thomas Frank and Co. have since missed out on the signing of Eberechi Eze to arch-rivals Arsenal. Daniel Levy and Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish were in talks for several days over a deal for Eze, but Arsenal came out of nowhere and hijacked the deal on Wednesday evening.
This has landed Levy and other senior officials in a soup at Hotspur Way. Several prominent figures and key decision-makers at the club are being criticised by the fans, as Thomas Frank continues his search for attacking reinforcements following the serious injury to James Maddison and Son Heung-min’s exit.

Thomas Frank confident Spurs will sign a player before transfer deadline
Tottenham have missed out on two players in this transfer window. Plus, Manchester City are trying to block a move for Savinho, who is keen to join the Lilywhites.
Regardless of all the discouraging signs, Thomas Frank is confident that Spurs will at least bring in one new face to N17 before the transfer window slams shut. When asked in the press conference whether Spurs will be well equipped to be competitive across multiple competitions if no signings in the attacking department are made, the Dane said (h/t Football London):
“I think it’s a good question. Of course, we need to do everything we can to make sure we are as competitive as possible. I think we’ve got six good front players that I think is very competitive, across all the competition we’re going into, and then Kulusevski, he will come back in this season.
“I think that’s a big thing. It’s probably longer term with Maddison unfortunately, but I am also pretty confident that we will sign a player before the end of the window.”

Daniel Levy must back the new Spurs gaffer with some quality late signings
Eze snubbing Spurs to join cross-town rivals Arsenal came as a huge shock for the fans. This has further soured the relationship between Levy and the supporters, and it is going to be an uphill task for the club’s chairman to bounce back from.
With attacking options becoming limited as the time passes by in the transfer window, Levy will really have to dig in and bring in fresh faces as we approach the business-end of the window. Tottenham are pushing to sign Savinho from Man City, while West Ham United’s Lucas Paqueta has been identified as an alternative to Eze.
Let’s see if our board can pull off these signings before September 1 transfer deadline.
