Tottenham Hotspur reach out to land Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers on a priority basis
The 2025 summer transfer window has been a roller coaster of a ride for Tottenham. The club saw one of its most beloved players, Son Heung-Min, leave after spending 10 years at the club. On the other hand, they also saw some very exciting players join their side, the most prominent of them being Joao Palhinha and Mohammed Kudus.
Meanwhile, Spurs have also had to suffer several setbacks in the market. For instance, they wanted to replace James Maddison, who suffered a serious injury in the preseason, but saw their operations to sign either Morgan Gibbs-White or Eberechi Eze end up not being too successful.
As a result, Tottenham are now turning their attention to some other targets in this late stage of the summer transfer window. One such target is the Aston Villa playmaker Morgan Rogers.
As per a report from the journalist Miguel Delaney via X, the Englishman is now a priority target for Spurs, and they have already contacted intermediaries to advance their operation to land him.

Aston Villa not looking to part ways with the midfielder
However, this is not going to be an easy task for the North London side, particularly because Villa do not want to part ways with the midfielder. However, Unai Emery’s side is facing PSR challenges which can force them to consider a bid for Rogers.
With Eze now practically out of their hands, the Aston Villa star would be another good option for Spurs. However, the fact that Rogers has a contract till 2030 means he will cost significantly more than the Crystal Palace forward would have.
Still, there is no doubt that with James Maddison out with a long-term injury, the North London side will have to make the required sacrifices to bring in another playmaker ahead of a crucial season in which they will be competing both in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.
For now, time is of the essence, as there are less than 10 left before the summer transfer window closes. Hopefully, Tottenham will be able to close this operation in time and eliminate one of the most obvious weaknesses in Thomas Frank’s team.
