Meanwhile, the North London side has also suffered some serious setbacks in the market, and one such setback came quite recently when they saw their North London rivals Arsenal make a successful last-ditch hijack attempt to sign their priority target Eberechi Eze.
Only a few days ago, Tottenham were emerging as the favorites to land the Crystal Palace star. In fact, they had already reached preliminary agreements, both with the player and the club. Meanwhile, their top rivals for Eze’s signing, Arsenal, were looking to be set with their team for the new season, and were not expected to make any new additions.
Report reveals why Arsenal made their move
Now, a report from Fichajes has revealed why Arsenal took the step to hijack such an advanced deal of their rivals and get the English star into their team. The report claims that it was the injury suffered by their forward Kai Havertz, which is set to keep him out of action for several weeks, that spurred the Gunners’ management to make a move for the Englishman.
There is no doubt this will be a very good addition to the Arsenal team. However, this situation leaves Tottenham in a very bad position, as they have not only been left without a player who could have solved a lot of problems for Thomas Frank, but have also been dealt with a severe blow to their reputation.
With only a few days left in the transfer window, Spurs have now turned their attention to other players. They are now being linked with the likes of the Como playmaker Nico Paz, the Real Madrid star Rodrygo Goes, and the French starlet Maghnes Akliouche.
With James Maddison out with a long-term injury, Tottenham would be desperate to get at least one new attacking player into their team before the market closes.
