“Ready to go”- Tottenham Hotspur backed to end the summer transfer window with a bang

Tottenham are still looking to improve the squad as we approach the business-end of the transfer window

Not many expected Tottenham to make a positive start to the new Premier League season after enduring a torrid summer for all sorts of reasons. The Lilywhites are in all sorts of mess in the transfer market and it looks like Thomas Frank is not being backed by Daniel Levy and Co. as we approach the business-end of the window. Yet, the Danish tactician has managed to carve out two positive results with limited firepower.

The ex-Brentford boss came out on top against Pep Guardiola this weekend as Spurs beat Manchester City. The Lilywhites were head and shoulders clear of the Cityzens as they managed to grab an away win. They looked solid at the back, and the attackers looked focused and razor-sharp during transitions.

Tottenham are still looking to improve the squad as we approach the business-end of the transfer window.
Tottenham still need to bring in reinforcements despite overperforming in the first two games of the new PL season.

However, it is fair to say that the recent performances by Thomas Frank’s men are just papering the cracks prevailing at N17. The North London club are overperforming already, and there will come a time when Thomas Frank will need to rely on other players as games start approaching thick and fast. With the lack of squad depth right now, fans worry that the players’ performances will start to wear out soon.

Tottenham to shift their focus on signing players for the future

After watching how the Tottenham attackers are performing week in week out, there are suggestions that the Lilywhites do not need to add more firepower up front. The front three of Mohammed Kudus, Richarlison, and Brennan Johnson look ready to make an impact at N17 this season under Thomas Frank. And the North London club also have Dominic Solanke, Mathys Tel, and Wilson Odobert waiting in the wings.

That is why Joe Cole has indicated that Spurs will look to sign a youngster instead of a ready-made player in the coming days. Speaking on TNT Sports (via TBR Football), Cole said,

“I can’t see there being much, much more happening. I think Daniel Levy is in a great position. He hasn’t spent a lot of money, but he seems to have got two great results with the squad moving. I don’t think he’ll go and get someone who’s already of age and ready to go.”

The ex-Chelsea star added,

“I think there’ll be a few young players coming in to bolster the squad. We also don’t know the needs of certain buying and selling clubs in terms of what they have to do. But as you can see there, Daniel Levy will be saying, “I’m pretty set with what I’ve got, maybe just one young player.”

Joe Cole believes Daniel Levy is in a great position right now without splashing the cash after seeing how well Tottenham have performed in the last two games. The ex-Chelsea star suggests that the Lilywhites will not sign an experienced player in the coming days. And instead, the North London club will look to buy young talents for the future before the transfer window shuts. Cole also points out that Daniel Levy will look to focus on the future as Thomas Frank has enough quality right now.

In all honesty, Daniel Levy should not sign another young talent as the Lilywhites need to build momentum after a strong start to the season. Signing an experienced player will give Spurs some confidence and squad depth later this season. And Thomas Frank will also have strong options to choose from week in week out.
