Tottenham Hotspur can secure AS Monaco forward Maghnes Akliouche for around £47.5m
Football clubs throughout Europe would be scrambling to complete their tasks as there is less than a week left before the summer transfer window closes. This is also the case with Tottenham Hotspur, as they continue to look for more attacking reinforcements in this late stage of the market.
Spurs’ task was made significantly more difficult by a recent turn of affairs, which saw Arsenal hijack their deal for the Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze. Furthermore, they have also been unable to convince Manchester City to part ways with the Brazilian forward Savinho.
Following these episodes, the North London side has turned its attentions to other forwards. One such player with whom they have been linked recently is the AS Monaco forward Maghnes Akliouche. After having failed to land Eze and Nico Paz, it seems like Tottenham can actually land the Frenchman, and that too for a sum significantly less than the one City were demanding for Savinho.
Pete O’Rourke reveals Akliouche’s price tag
At least, this was the opinion of the journalist Pete O’Rourke as he talked to Football Insider about Spurs’ interest in the Monaco starlet. O’Rourke revealed how much money the North London side might have to pay to get the Frenchman:
“The one that seems to be catching their eye is the Monaco star, Maghnes Akliouche… He’s a very talented young player, and could be available for around £47.5 million.
“He’s a top young player, 23 years old, probably one of the most exciting young talents in Ligue 1 right now – he can play as a winger, or as a number 10 as well.
“If Tottenham aren’t able to resurrect their deal for Savinho, Akliouche would be a decent alternative, and it does seem that Monaco would sell at the right price.”
While not as big a name as Eberechi Eze or Savinho, Akliouche could still be a good addition to this Tottenham team. He made his debut for Monaco back in 2021, and has been a regular in the French side’s first team for the last two seasons. So far, he has scored 13 goals and provided 14 assists in Ligue 1.
Furthermore, as O’Rourke mentioned, he can play both as an attacking midfielder and as a winger, and this versatility would also be very welcome for Thomas Frank.
His price tag of £47.5 million, while significantly lower than the valuation of Savinho, is still a significant amount, and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham would be willing to pay it. There is no doubt that they need a new player for this position, and the short time left in the market might just force their hand into paying this price for the Frenchman.
