West Ham United have started the 2025/26 Premier League season like a train wreck. They inexplicably got trashed 3-0 by Sunderland, a newly promoted side in the league and were nowhere near Chelsea’s level in their second game.
The pressure, without a doubt, is on Graham Potter. The former Brighton and Chelsea manager has looked like a fish out of water at the London Stadium and will soon be out of a job if he doesn’t change something, sooner rather than later.
Now, as per TBR Football (h/t Caught Offside), West Ham are planning to make a late move to sign Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma. The Malian international is currently nowhere in the scheme of things under Thomas Frank.
Bissouma out of Thomas Frank’s plans
The Danish tactician left Bissouma out of the matchday squad of the UEFA Super Cup against PSG for his repeated offence of being late to training. He has not been involved in Spurs’ first two games against Burnley and Manchester City.
Bissouma was signed for Spurs from Brighton a few seasons ago. His time at the N17 has been a mixed bag. He has had his moments of glory, especially in Ange Postecoglou’s first season but the lack of consistency has been a constant issue.
Once touted to be the next big thing when he was playing for Brighton, it is safe to say that Bissouma’s career hasn’t panned out to the lofty ambitions once set for him as a youngster. He is still useful to have around for the squad though.
A reunion with Graham Potter?
However, with his future at Spurs seeming all but over, a reunion with former manager Potter at West Ham could help resurrect Bissouma’s career. The 28-year-old could help the Hammers but the English tactician’s future at the club is far from certain.
Once labelled a “ridiculous player” by James Maddison, talent has never been an issue for Bissouma. It is his commitment to the team’s cause that needs to change. Let’s wait and see if West Ham take him off Spurs’ hands in these final days of the summer transfer window.
