There isn’t long left to go for transfer Deadline Day for the 2025/26 summer transfer window and Tottenham will know that they still have a lot of work to do to improve the squad in the days that are left.
The window slams shut in England on Monday, September 1, at 19:00 BST and with just a few days left, it is now or never. This has truly been a marathon but with the finish line in sight, Tottenham need to ramp up their efforts.
So far, this summer has been headlined more by players that Tottenham missed out on than the ones they signed. Despite the fact that Spurs brought in two excellent players like Mohammed Kudus and Joao Palhinha, its the ones that got away that are walking away with the limelight.
Regardless, as Thomas Frank eloquently put it, players who don’t want to wear the Tottenham jersey aren’t needed at the N17. We need players like Kudus, who chose the club over everyone else and that is the kind of signings that Johan Lange & Co. need to focus on.

With all this in mind, we at TTLB bring to you the three biggest talking points for Tottenham ahead of the summer transfer window Deadline Day on September 1.
1. Will the #10 pursuit finally bear fruit?
Tottenham seem to have moved heaven and earth to try and sign a new #10 this summer, only for a move to fall through the cracks on more than one occasion. It all initially started with the Morgan Gibbs-White saga, with Spurs triggering his release clause but Forest threatening legal action for illegally contacting their star player.
Ultimately, the North London club were left with egg on their faces as the Englishman signed a new deal at Forest. Lightning did strike twice, though, as the same thing happened with Eze. Spurs had all but closed out a move for the Crystal Palace star, only for Arsenal to swoop in and hijack the deal.
James Maddison’s untimely ACL injury has put Spurs in desperate need of a new #10 this summer. With Dejan Kulusevski also nowhere close to returning, Thomas Frank would want to have a creative #10 in the ranks. The club are linked with the likes of Bilal El Khannouss of Leicester City and Maghnes Akliouche of AS Monaco. Even the likes of Xavi Simons has been floated around as an option.
It is more a question of who rather than if Tottenham will sign a new #10 in the coming days. It is a position Thomas Frank seemed to prioritise even before Maddison’s injury and with a number of talented options around, let’s wait and see who among them shows the desire to wear the Lilywhite jersey this summer.
2. Manchester City and Savinho

Tottenham’s interest in Manchester City star Savinho this summer has been well documented. With Son Heung-min leaving the club to join Los Angeles FC in the MLS, Spurs have been keen on signing a new winger and the Brazilian who has made a name for himself under Pep Guardiola is considered the preferred option.
Spurs are willing to submit a club record bid to sign Savinho this summer. The 21-year-old also seems willing to swap Manchester for London to continue his career but as things stand, it is Manchester City who are playing hardball and not yet sanctioning an exit for the South American star.
It is very unlike Man City and Pep Guardiola to hold on to a player who wants to leave. If Savinho and Tottenham continue to push, there is every chance of this deal going through in the coming days of the transfer window. Thus, this is one to keep an eye out on from a Spurs perspective.
3. Daniel Levy – can you save face?
Daniel Levy has come under severe criticism from Spurs fans ever since the beginning of last season. This summer transfer window, the chairman has been blamed a lot for Tottenham’s inefficiency in signing players that Thomas Frank wants. Levy is a very proud businessman and will want to do something to get the fans back on his side.
One way to do this would be to pull off a statement signing in the dying embers of the transfer window. With names like Savinho being floated around, Spurs aren’t short of options. For a chance, Levy also seems willing to open out the purse strings and give Frank everything he needs to build the Tottenham project.
Building on last season’s Europa League-winning momentum is imperative from a Spurs perspective. It remains to be seen what moves Daniel Levy makes in the final days of the summer transfer window and if it allows him to save face at the end of it all. Only time will tell how it plays out.
