Liverpool attacker Harvey Elliott has a decision to make as Tottenham transfer links intensify
Tottenham are in a dire situation right now after enduring an underwhelming summer. The Lilywhites are enjoying a stellar start to the new Premier League campaign under Thomas Frank, but the failures off-the-pitch are not something that can be hidden for too long. The North London club has clearly lacked firepower to bring in quality players that would help Spurs compete at the highest level.
A disappointing transfer window, as well as, an unfortunate injury to James Maddison has turned the club’s plans for the summer upside down. The England international was the only natural #10 in the team that could thrive under Thomas Frank. However, after rupturing his ACL earlier this month, the Spurs midfielder is set to miss most parts of this season.

To cope with Maddison’s absence, Thomas Frank has been forced to play Pape Matar Sarr in an advanced role for the first two Premier League games of the season. The Senegal international is a holding midfielder by trait. But it is fair to say that the talented player has done his part up front by playing a crucial role in Tottenham’s win against Manchester City.
Tottenham must go all-in to sign Liverpool outcast Harvey Elliott
It was reported earlier that Tottenham are still in the hunt to land Liverpool attacker Harvey Elliott. The England U-21 international has not managed to make his way into the starting eleven under Arne Slot, indicating that a summer move might be on the cards as he wants regular gametime. The report also stated that Thomas Frank held direct talks with Elliott in the hopes of convincing him to come to N17.
Now, Martin Allen has urged the Lilywhites to do everything they can to land the versatile attacker. Speaking to Tottenham News, Allen said,
“Harvey Elliott gets goals coming off the bench, but is he worth £40m? I would say yes. He doesn’t help dominate games in possession, but he does score goals and help to win games.”
The ex-Leicester manager added,
“A player like that, I think, would be absolutely key for Tottenham. I would question why Liverpool want to sell him because he will be like gold dust in their squad.”
Martin Allen believes Harvey Elliott is well worth the £40m asking price that Liverpool have set for his signature. The ex-Leicester manager adds that the versatile attacker manages to decide a tie by scoring crucial goals when the team needs it the most. Allen suggests that the England U-21 international would be a key player for Spurs, while also questioning why Liverpool are willing to sell him.
Well, it is fair to say that signing Harvey Elliott would solve a lot of problems for Tottenham. The 22-year-old can either play as a #10, or on the right-flank. He has also gained a lot of exposure and experience by playing on the biggest of stages for one of the best teams in the world. And it is fair to say that his technical brilliance would provide a different dynamic to the attacking line at N17.
