Man Utd star Kobbie Mainoo is keeping his options open as Tottenham transfer links grow stronger
As we approach the business-end of the transfer window, Tottenham are still looking for an opportunity to strengthen the squad for this season. The Lilywhites have endured a rough summer after missing out on key players, despite tracking them for weeks. And fans have also been frustrated with the incompetency shown by Daniel Levy in the transfer market.
With time running out in the window, Spurs are still hoping to sign a new midfielder that would provide some depth in the middle of the park. The Lilywhites are prepared to lose Yves Bissouma in the coming days as the Mali international has clearly fallen down the pecking order under Thomas Frank. Bissouma is linked with a Premier League move as of now, with West Ham United emerging as favourites to land him.

Also, Rodrigo Bentancur is facing an uncertain future at N17 as well. The Uruguay international’s contract is up next summer, and there have been no signs of extending his stay at the club as of now. So, it is obvious that Daniel Levy needs to bring in a new midfielder that could play a vital part under Thomas Frank for years to come.
Tottenham might be able to land Man Utd talent Kobbie Mainoo
It was reported earlier that Tottenham were keeping tabs on Kobbie Mainoo’s situation at Manchester United. The England international is clearly not favoured by Ruben Amorim, and there seems to be an acceptance that his time is up at M16 after not featuring in the first two Premier League games of the season. The report also stated that the 20-year-old is valued at £60m by the Red Devils, and they would only entertain offers that match the asking price.
Now, David Ornstein has provided an update on Mainoo’s future at Manchester United. Writing for The Athletic, Ornstein said,
“Kobbie Mainoo is open to leaving Manchester United. Head coach Ruben Amorim seems to prefer other midfielders, and the England international has entered the final 24 months of his Old Trafford contract.”
Kobbie Mainoo being open to leave Manchester United might just give Tottenham all the ammunition they need to test the waters for his signature. The England international only has two years remaining of his United contract, so the Red Devils will also look to cash-in on the midfielder if the right opportunity comes by if they want to stay on the right side of the PSR rules.
Signing the 20-year-old will instantly elevate the quality in the middle of the park for Spurs. Mainoo is arguably one of the best talents in England currently, and he has everything that it takes to become a standout player in the future. His ability to dribble past opposition players in tight spaces is second to none. Not only that, but Mainoo also has the ability to unlock defences with his good range of passes.
The Manchester United star’s future is up in the air currently. And Daniel Levy should do everything he can to land the talented 20-year-old.
