Manchester City star Savinho is hoping that a move to Tottenham Hotspur can still materialise this summer

One can say that it has been a summer of failures for Tottenham after the Lilywhites missed out on several intended targets in recent weeks. The North London club were expected to bring in quality players to build on the Europa League success this season. But that has not turned out to be the case yet, with Daniel Levy hoping to save face during the last few days of the transfer window.

Thomas Frank has time and again urged Levy and Co. to bring in reinforcements for this season. The Danish tactician made it clear that he intends to make Spurs ‘serial winners’ during his time at N17. And that can only be achieved if the Lilywhites decide to back him in the transfer market and bolster the quality of the squad.

With time running out in the market, it is important for the North London club to address the issues up front. Tottenham really need a left-winger that could compete with Mathys Tel for a spot in the starting eleven. As of now, Thomas Frank is playing Brennan Johnson as a makeshift left-winger. But that cannot continue for long once the games start coming in thick and fast.

Tottenham miss out on Man City star Savinho

Tottenham were hoping to land Manchester City star Savinho before the window ended after identifying him as the perfect replacement of Heung-Min Son. The Brazilian was keen on the move too as he was looking to be the face of the project and seek regular game time. However, the Cityzens blocked the move at the eleventh-hour as Pep Guardiola viewed him as a key part of the squad for this season.

Now, Graeme Bailey has shared that the 21-year-old is still hoping that a move to N17 can materialise in the coming days. Speaking to TBR Football, Bailey said,

“I am told that Savinho really wanted the Spurs move and still does; the window remains open until Monday, and he hopes the deal could happen.”

The journalist added,

“Spurs will remain attentive to the situation, should they get any encouragement; however, they have also made it clear to Savinho they are moving forward with other targets too.”

Graeme Bailey has indicated that Savinho is ‘unhappy’ that a move to Tottenham did not formalise last week. However, the journalist claims that the Manchester City winger is still hoping that the Lilywhites come back for him before the window ends. Bailey also reports that Spurs are willing to test the waters for the 21-year-old again, but they have also informed Savinho that other alternatives are being considered simultaneously.

It was reported earlier this week that Tottenham are also considering making a move for AS Monaco talent Maghnes Akliouche. The Lilywhites see the youngster as an alternative for Savinho, and believe that he will be just as good as the Brazilian in the future. However, it remains to be seen whether Daniel Levy proceeds with the move to land Akliouche in the coming days.
