Official: Tottenham announce the signing of highly-rated attacker on a long-term deal

Well, the wait is finally over for Tottenham fans as the club has just announced the signing of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig on a long-term deal. The Netherlands international joins the Lilywhites on a long-term deal, with a contract running until 2030.

The arrival of the 22-year-old to N17 makes it the sixth official signing Spurs have made this summer. The Lilywhites first managed to sort out deals for Kota Takai, Mathys Tel, and Kevin Danso early on in the transfer window. Then came the major coup of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham last month. The Ghana international’s arrival paved the way for Joao Palhinha from Bayern Munich on an initial loan deal.

Tottenham have finally announced the signing of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig.

Now the time has come for the North London club to welcome Xavi Simons into the club. The prolific attacker will don the No.7 for the Lilywhites. And wearing the iconic number comes with huge responsibility as he will need to follow in on the footsteps of legendary winger Heung-Min Son.

Tottenham make a statement by signing Xavi Simons

Xavi Simons has already shown what he is capable of by proving his worth in the Bundesliga. The Dutchman played a vital role for RB Leipzig, and there is no surprise why he has been signed by Tottenham for a hefty fee. As per Sofascore, Simons managed to rack up eleven goals and eight assist in just 33 appearances last season. This shows that the 22-year-old has an eye for goal, and can easily make an impact in the final third of the pitch.

Signing the highly-rated attacker will also lift off the pressure from Daniel Levy’s shoulders for the time being. The Spurs chairman has been under a lot of scrutiny in recent days after missing out on Eberechi Eze, despite agreeing personal terms with the player. To make matters worse, the England international chose to snub the Lilywhites and join arch rivals Arsenal instead.

However, let’s not dwell on the past and bring the focus back on Xavi Simons instead. The Dutchman, through his wealth of experience, will bring a different dynamic to the Tottenham attack. His ability to play either as a #10, or as a left-winger will help Thomas Frank in more ways than one. He thrives in carrying the ball higher up the pitch during transitions, whilst also playing a killer pass thanks to his brilliant passing range.

Thomas Frank has always been keen to add an attacker that would work his socks off with and without the ball. And he has managed to get that in Xavi Simons now after the Dutchman’s arrival. Fans will hope that the 22-year-old replicates the same form he has shown in the Bundesliga time and again.

All-in-all, Spurs have managed to make a statement by signing Xavi Simons before the transfer window shuts.
