Thomas Frank should be in high spirits after an ideal start to his Tottenham Hotspur career.

Spurs have bounced back very well from the disappointing UEFA Super Cup defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in a penalty shootout, beating Burnley and Manchester City in the opening games of the 2025-26 Premier League season. They thrashed newbies Burnley 3-0 at home, before stunning Manchester City 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

Thomas Frank’s tactical masterclass was on display against Manchester City, with very few would have expected the Lilywhites to get a result at the Etihad Stadium. With five goals scored, two clean sheets kept and maximum points in the bag from the opening matches, Tottenham head into the home game against Bournemouth on Saturday with great confidence.

The Europa League champions have a great opportunity to enter the new campaign’s first international break with three wins from as many games. It is all the more impressive given that the new Spurs gaffer has not yet had a fully fit squad to work with, as injuries have already hit his side early in the campaign.

Destiny Udogie has been one of the players who has been unavailable to Tottenham for over a month now. He missed the entirety of the pre-season tour of Asia after sustaining a knee problem in the warm-up against Luton Town, with Djed Spence deputising at left-back.

Frank said last week that the Italian has been progressing well in his recovery from injury but was not ready to feature against Man City. On Friday afternoon, the Dane has given a positive update on Udogie’s injury. He said the left-back is back in the squad and might feature against Bournemouth at the weekend.

“Yes, he could feature, he’s in the squad and that’s very positive for us,” Frank said in his pre-match press conference.

Big plus to have Udogie back

Udogie is a vital player for Tottenham and having him back in the squad for the visit of Bournemouth is a big plus for Frank. The Italian has had a stop-start two campaigns in north London and his first impressions under the new boss hasn’t been a positive one due to an injury. Having recovered now from a knee issue, he will hope to keep himself fit and available for the rest of the taxing campaign.

The Verona-born talent is extremely unlikely to be throw straight into the starting XI against an intense, high-pressing Bournemouth side. He could get minutes off the bench depending on the situation of the game, meaning Spence is certain to continue at left-back on Saturday.

Normally, one would assume that managers will not disrupt winning combinations, but with Frank, expect some tweaks against Bournemouth.
