Tottenham Hotspur will need to make Aston Villa an offer they cannot refuse for Morgan Rogers
After some days of agony and failure, today was a happier day for Tottenham Hotspur fans as Spurs were finally able to sign their desired forward.
In recent days, the North London side has faced significant setbacks as they continue to work to get another playmaker into their team. They were quite close to landing the Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze into their team around a week ago, but their local rivals Arsenal hijacked this operation, leaving the Lilywhites empty-handed, with only a few days left in the market.
However, Tottenham have today completed the signing of the Dutch playmaker Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig. Although this was quite a costly addition for Spurs, there is no doubt about the La Masia-trained forward’s quality, and he will significantly improve Thomas Frank’s offensive options going forward.
Still, it looks like the Lilywhites are not satisfied with their attacking firepower as they continue to be linked with the Aston Villa starlet Morgan Rogers. The Villans would definitely not be too keen to part with such an important and promising young talent, however, their PSR problems can force them to consider an offer.

Pete O’Rourke explains what Spurs will have to do to land Morgan Rogers
However, it is clear that signing him will not be easy for the North London side. As per a report from CaughtOffside, the journalist Pete O’Rourke explained what the Lilywhites might have to do to land the Englishman, whom he described as a “dream signing for Tottenham”:
“Obviously, he’d be a dream signing for Tottenham, if they could land someone like Morgan Rogers – there’s a lot of admiration there and he’d tick a lot of boxes.
“Unai Emery’s been restricted in the transfer market, so he won’t really want to lose one of his star players, his prize asset, and there’s no doubt that Morgan Rogers is that.
“It would be a huge transfer fee for Aston Villa to even consider selling him.”
A few days ago, paying a big amount for Rogers would have made a lot of sense for Tottenham, as they recently saw Son Heung-Min depart the club for the MLS and also saw James Maddison suffer a long-term injury during the preseason.
However, having already added Xavi Simons, paying another big sum for Rogers would not really make a lot of sense, especially as both these players would be competing for a single spot in the starting lineup, and Spurs can use their funds to strengthen another area of the team.
